SLS Profile Changes

Thanks RusticMagic, at least that's somewhat of an answer.

So...they change their policy to make more work for themselves, and then because they can't keep up with it, make more changes to reduce the problem they caused. Like a dog chasing it's tail...

We post our travel in our profile because there's no other way to do it. Hot Dates are not the end-all be-all, and that's just another tail to chase if everyone starts posting hot dates for every time they go somewhere.

This would be more palatable, and make a little sense, if they added a travel section to our profiles. It helps people to see why someone a thousand miles away keeps looking at you.

So I got a reply to my question on this (sort of as it did not directly answer what I asked). Basically they have made this change to reduce the number of times people change their profile because of travel or party plans. It is to create less work for those who approve such changes. The thing is while the answer addressed saying you are attending a party or event it did not address if you can mention you attend ones at a specific location when you can. I mean we do update our profile wording from time to time but it is not because we are letting folks know we will be at a specific party but we do say we attend them and in fact that specific wording has not changed for our past 3 updates.

That said I get why since they added the hot date info to your profile when you make one they want you to use that for specific dates and events because (and while we have never made one) Hot Dates supposedly are approved faster and then when they expire will disappear without the need to change your profile. In fact with that added to your profile it makes a lot more sense to use the "Hot Date" feature for traveling and events you are attending because it removes them when the time has passed without you having to make the changes.

LOL sure as shit my response was deleted by the owners lmao...what a joke this site is anymore.

In my world no one appears to read profiles anyway. That is if you were to check my incoming messages! If I'm going anywhere I post in hot dates and change locations.

I can't think of another service providing company whose management has made so many consecutive poor decisions, is more unaware of what its member/clients/customers want, and is so deaf to the reactions of the changes they implement.

While we would never post time specific information, unless we did indeed set up a "Hot Date" or as we have been doing putting the date of our last profile update, we can understand how others would even on their profile. Our issue is this part of it "but not be limited to". We see this as them deciding to not allow us to say we attend parties held by a group or go to a club frequently without perhaps running afoul of the new rules. Since the group is part of SLS and only have a sign up for the events here we cannot understand how it would be a problem however historically we have know other sites with similar wording in a rule that took it that far. The phrasing concerns us as to being compliant while still letting folks know we frequent certain places. Isn't that part of having a profile on a site such as this? Common interests are what helps make a connection and that includes going to the same places. I mean don't we all want to meet up outside this site for real world fun or are we just getting our fun online without actual meeting people?

How are we supposed to let others know when we are going to be in their area as we can't post a hot date in just any location.

Another nail in the coffin of SLS, they don't notice that the traffic is down and the amount of new members is low? I'm about to abandon things myself, no one wants to chat and meet anyway.

I posted this about an hour ago, they deleted the thread and replies.

Enjoy

The changes made here with no input, no warning and no worthwhile apparent purpose are simply ludicrous.

I cannot recall any of them actually explained later (with any validity) beyond some version of "it was decided".

Just when you thought it couldn't get more ridiculous:

"Hot Date(s)" type of information will no longer be allowed in the text portions of your profile and will be rejected by SLS staff during the review process. The type of content no longer allowed can include but not be limited to: any time/dated references to events, clubs, future vacation/travel plans, etc. "

Serious? We can't even post our vacation plans on our profile? What prompted this stupid change? Did you all of a sudden get a bunch of customer support tickets complaining about it?
