New Hot Dates tab on profiles?

With the new rules update what does it matter? Hot date is now dead.

We like using the Hotdate feature but would rather have the option to not have it attached to our profile but realize some may want it there so they should have that option as well. We all have wants and needs on here and it is the options and ability to choose what you want that makes swinging so much fun.......jus sayin!

MandC, I was not aware of that. The clubs in our area (Party at Scouts, DJs Island and Body Shop) discontinued using signups quite some time ago.

HotWife,

When you add your name to an event list, it puts the logo for that event on your profile, so anyone who looks at your profile sees where you are going. The same as the Hot Date. If you look at our profile, you'll see an event we are attending in CT in April.

If you sign up for an event only those people checking out the event see you are going, not everyone who looks at your profile. In actuality, many clubs have discontinued using sign ups. Why? Because many people who intend to go don’t sign up on the event page for this very reason and consequently the event looks like no one is going. (If there are no sign ups, and it looks like no one is going, Im going to guess that this will eventually lead to a large drop off in the event attendance and eventual canceling of the event. If you look at an event and see 3 people signed up, most will probably opt not to go. Why would event organizers not want a sign up list? they are in the end promoters and want as many people to show up as possibly, and a large list of people saying they are going is a hype tool!!!). What I used to see is people signing up for multiple events on the same day that would be physically impossible to actually attend, but just putting their names on lists. Its dropped off somewhat with the events now showing up on their profile.)

Our issue is the hot date listing being placed on the profile shows up for everyone, not just your target audience which in our case is typically while traveling in other areas. That is why we specify the hot date for our destination and not home. (So whats the concern? how is this negative??? are people in Alaska contacting you about a date you set for Florida? Maybe others will be traveling to the same area at the time you specified so this would actually benefit you.... like "hey, saw your profile and your hot date for France on June 3rd, we will also be there at that time, any interest in meeting?).......

These "New Improvements" just have not been much of an improvement.

MandC, We would have to disagree. If you sign up for an event only those people checking out the event see you are going, not everyone who looks at your profile. In actuality, many clubs have discontinued using sign ups. Why? Because many people who intend to go don’t sign up on the event page for this very reason and consequently the event looks like no one is going.

Hotwife,

It's no different really to adding yourself to an event where anyone who looks at your profile will see where you'll be. Sure, you can choose not to add yourself to the list. But again, if you choose not to do that, you limit your opportunities to connect with others.

AandK, maybe we are missing something. How do we post a hot date for an area that we are traveling to (say Florida) and not have everyone in our home area know about our posting? Sometimes you don’t want those that you have played with in the past or those that you are currently chatting with to know your every move........just sayin.

i agree with MandC... this site is supposed to be for facilitating meets and matches and swinging... anything that makes it easier Im all for.... if you want privacy use blocks or filters or other.... lets get the party started!!!!!

Like sooooo many others, we only see this change as being a negative not a positive.
SLSWayne, please lobby the powers that be for us (the Members) who would like to have the option to toggle this feature off. Certainly you are tired of reading about all the complaints so throw us a bone and fulfill at least one of our requests!?!?!?

Milton, FL, Us

Too much to ask ?
NOBODY asked for this new feature.
The things we ask for are ignored.
Is this something to stop the complaints about the recent hot dates changes ?
I cannot see it as a remedy to the issues.

We're a fan of this feature. If the purpose of this site is to help swingers facilitate meeting other swingers, we are happy for a way to see who might be coming our way, happy for others to see we might be heading their way, and happy for a way to see that we both might be headed in the same direction.

We hate the new hot date spot on the profile. If we travel we don't want everyone knowing we are having a hot date unless your from that area. It's another SLS way to show not how to have discretion

Litchfield, CT, Us

@rabbit, correct, not really a work around, but more of a back-door to a profile's hot date listings. There were some complaints when hot dates changed since if you were off by a year in age preference you would be blocked. This does not address that, but you could land on a profile with a hot date you would not otherwise see. Agreed, there needs to be a setting to make hot dates visible or not within your profile. Max

If I click on your profile, I see the hot date listing attached. However, when I look at the hot date listings, I can't see or click on a profile (or even see the profile name) if we fall outside the restrictions so it isn't really a workaround for people to bypass the hot date limitations.

It would be nice if SLS let you control whether your hot date was linked to your profile or not but as usual, they think they know best and will dictate how you use the features.

Yep so all they need to do now is click the profile to get around that block and to see the hot date content. It was a nice privacy feature for us since we are not into typical play and don't like the added attention from couples that are not into it but whatever.

Litchfield, CT, Us

@asianhotwifex, you are still blocked to us (couple) on the Hot Dates page, but obviously if we stumble onto your listing we would see you have a hot dates listing for Single Male. Not very private if you don't want everyone you know here to see it. Max

Andover, MA, Us

We have a hot date posted for single men only and looks like its showing to all through our profile. We were not previously able to see even our own hot date because it was flagged for single males only. Does not appear to be working correctly on the profile page....

Did someone take my name in vain? :)

Sorillo's sock puppet should be popping in any minute now in a Santa outfit....

Yes and I have a Santa Claus fetish, so it's a sad, sad state of affairs.

@eatme, I think the law of unintended consequences will rear its ugly head in this case. If I remember, when setting up a hot date you can set different parameters than you normally have for your profile. It's an interesting new feature, time will tell how it works. Max
