Truthfully, many couples aren’t replying because most don’t bother to READ! So many just delete and move on when it’s clearly obvious the sender didn’t read the profile and it just phishing.
That said, the messaging system should have the basics that literally every other IM does. Ability to read receipt & push notifications. I will say at least sending has been more reliable lately for us.
This is a common issue and the most irritating part of it is, as many have stated in this post that if we have a R for read status, we won't have to be as stalkers looking at people's profiles to remind them to read our messages, as most of the adults here seem not need to simply reply a "not interested" so, perhaps an option that displays (interested or not interested) along the R feature, that way there is better communication and people would not be sending many messages to get people's attention and being perceived as creeps or stalkers
I just typed out two message on the website and hit send and nothing.... it happens frequently..... so I go to the APP to send messages, seems to work better.... regardless.... the messaging system sucks and full of glitches....
one glaring improvement on the app .... move the send button and the attached photo button on opposite sides.... dont know how many times Ive accidently hit the attached photo button instead of send and if I dont attach a photo the message disappears....
<p>Messages cannot be delayed. They are instant. I have never seen this happen nor have I been able to verify that it happened with anyone stating that it happened to them.</p>
<p>If you are logged into the site, the new message counter will only update when you go to the Messages page or while you are on the Messages page.</p>
I have experienced the same at times with the messages. Other times I could actually have a normal back and forth conversation with someone and the messages come right through. Makes no sense!
I can definitely confirm what people are saying about delayed messages. It’s now 12:25am and I’ve been on & off throughout the night because of a party. We just received a message timestamped 5:28 from a couple asking if we were going. So there is at least something causing hours long delays somewhere.
We dont see messages, unless we click on message to see if we have any.
Under the old e-mail system you could see if your message was read. That went away with the change several years ago. System is working fine for us. As someone previously stated, if you see the profile you sent a message to has been online for a while, assume a non-reply means no interest.
Owcangrace, we do as well. People on here complain about the messages not sending, which we’ve never had that problem, so maybe that would help. But, yeah we also assume if theyve been on since it was sent, they’ve seen it and choose to not respond.
Spice2honey - we operate on the assumption that if they have been online, they have seen it. After a week from being online, we assume no interest on their part
Would love if it showed “r” so at least you know if the message has been seen.
we get messages and if they fit what we speak to in our profile, we respond eventually, interested or not. We have a rule that we do not respond unless we have both seen and discussed. Along with that we need to be in an SLS frame of mind. So a pause from us is a sign one of us thinks there is some potential. If one of us sees it first and its a nope, we respond and move on. Single guys nit following our guidelines get deleted immediately. All this said, we can be online a lot but if only one of us, you won't hear back for a while.
<p>Messages are instant on the site. I know of no way they could ever be delayed and I have never seen one delayed. If you are already logged into the site, you have to go into your mailbox for the new mail counter to update. If you are just sitting on the homepage or some other page of the site, the counter won't show the new message, but the message will be there on your messages page.</p>
I mean beyond a basic intro, most everyone moves away from the in house messaging here as soon as possible. Until it has basic functions like notifications and real time chat, it simply isn’t conducive to engaging people.
On the plus side, at least the messages are going through and not vanishing into SLS limbo line before so that’s a huge improvement.
Just happened to us fri. Was sent a message..we also started talking to said person on kik...they said "I sent a message just now, but saw you on, so I sent this one also"....we talked for over hour and never got their message. Next morning we woke, and message sent here was there and showed time stamp of night before...but we didn't get it til much later

Welcome.. people do not stay on SLS all day, just because it shows they are on doesnt mean they are.. we know many who just leave it on and go off doing whatever.
For "us" we only check in occasionally. Those who dont read our profile, send dick photos friend requests etc they get blocked or we dont answer.. it shows they dont care what we have written.
Is the message system down I send messages out and and sometimes it’s like folks don’t see them until hours later was not sure if it was just on mine or if others are having trouble also
