Maybe they were not blocking single males when they viewed your profile. They can turn that block on and off whenever they like.

To Wayne C. This is not entirely true. I have a couple on my "who's viewed me" that when I clicked on them it said they were blocking single males. So, my question is, if they are blocking single males, how is it they were able to see my profile? You said if someone was being blocked, neither party should be able to see the other.
Um, I was agreeing with him that he doesn't get it and wouldn't get it as he's not the target. It's pretty simple.
One can empathize with things they haven't encountered, but they can't understand what it's truly like.
Leaving things up may embolden, or just leave the idiocy on display. I would worry if there was a chorus of approval.
BTW, bad thigs happening to folks who for one reason or another are not seen as normative was well in place long before you were born. Inferring that someone in there 70's hasn't a clue is flat out wrong, or at least misinformed.
Things didn't just start with Stonewall
DTH,
You're a straight, white, almost 70 year old man. Of course you don't get it, you aren't the people being targeted by hatred. In fact you are in the group most likely to be espousing the hatred.
Just this week a woman was killed for flying a rainbow flag. This hatred starts with words, and allowing people to bash gay and bi men on this site should not be allowed in any manner. And seeing it being allowed on the forums for days without any moderation isn't ok. It only emboldens the hatred.
Oh heck yeah everybody needs the ability to block individuals. I had a well-known couple that's here on forum that keeps looking at my profile so I asked why do you keep looking at me? Can I help you? I also said you keep looking at me and it's giving me the creeps. I normally do not block people that constantly look at me I took it as a compliment. But this couple gave me the creeps. So they just replied back to me.
I State I do not meet African-American men. I do not meet black men in my profile. they told me that they were going to get a bunch of African-American men messaging me.. And I replied back I'm going to block your ass. So yes we need the ability to block whomever we choose.

Say what you like but your hypocrisy speaks for itself. Nuff said
Maybe I’m missing something, I’m trying to figure out who the alleged “bad guy” is here. Calling somebody out by name, then calling them disgusting names, then accusing them of causing a crime and they’re the bad guy? Is today Opposite Day?
"Seems like someone aught to live by what he preaches."
Calling someone out who is being hateful is not the same as being hateful. And standing up to a bully is not the same as bullying.
I learned long ago to stand up against people like JandE73 and their bigotry because they are used to people cowering. That has emboldened them to be even more hateful. Those comments are leading to more and more actual physical violence. So it's best to step up and let the bully know that you won't tolerate their actions or they will just continue to push the bounds.
Could we just have a block link under each person's profile pic on the forums? That way we don't have to go to their profile page to block.
OMG this thread is hilarious.. pass the popcorn!
" You know what forum I don’t read? Politics, because I think one side is a bunch of dickheads"
I don't read that forum because all sides are dickheads.
People dislike others for many many reasons. Politics, race, sexual orientation, you name it. If you feel somebody on this site is primed to physically assault you, you might want to go to the police instead of site administrators. Other than that, ignore them. You know what forum I don’t read? Politics, because I think one side is a bunch of dickheads. I can complain about them, fight with them or ignore them. I choose option #3.
So how does one reconcile this comment in this thread…..

Also from the one who fears physical aggression from “these” people
“You talk tough. Come up here and talk like that to my face princess”
Seems like someone aught to live by what he preaches.

That is already how it works. If they have blocked single males, they cannot view your profile or send you a message. They can see your forum posts because the forums are public (to all paid members of the site).

Hello!
After dealing with some homophobia in the forums I have come to realize that single males do not have the ability to block profiles that have been set to "not allow single males".
Couples can view everything on single males but single males cannot do anything about it, cannot block their profile, and reaching out to support for help gets a response of "if you can't see their profile you can't block them", which is clearly a design issue with the site, and why I reached out to support in the first place.
This to me seems like a HUGE ISSUE AND IS RIPE FOR ABUSE, and in today's world I fear physical aggression from these people. Not being able to block someone who is harassing you should be ISSUE NUMBER 1 for the SLS staff.
I think there are two solutions for this problem.
1: If you block single males, that also means you CANNOT SEE SINGLE MALE PROFILES, NOR REACH OUT TO THEM AT ALL. You won't see their forum posts nor will they see yours. The block is two way, neither party can see or communicate with the others.
2: I personally think you should never be able to block any group from seeing your profile, the block feature should only be so that people cannot contact you. All profiles should be available to all people and the ability to turn off messages or requests from a certain type should available.
In no case should the ability to block an abusive member be unavailable to anyone one the site.
Thoughts?
