We got an email today. "We read your profile and feel we are a match. You can message us via (another way).
The only pic is a close up. (We ask for a face pic.)
My reply, "Before I bring a profile to Mrs. I have to ask. Did you read our profile? Are you Vasectomy safe."
Their reply. Yes we did and no I'm not, but I wear condoms....
Ok... Then you didn't read our profile and we are not a match.
After evaluating last year's results a few weeks ago, I wanted to quit the site but Mrs.SOTW asked me not to. Her reasoning is that we have had very good success in the past and met some great ppl, so it's worth going through all this aggravation to meet someone special.
FYI. I do not blame SLS. It is the fake members who are the problem, and for the record I do not believe it's any better at any other site.

Of course it can be more fun to get even rather than mad. If they're that obnoxious you can always set up a date that you don't plan to show for. Not something I'd actually do, but I'd be lying if I told you I hadn't at least thought of doing it at times ;-)
I have a new term for this.

My profile is absolutely as specific as it is explicit insofar as what I am looking for and what I expect from guys who have it and want me to take them seriously, but I still get the emails you describe. Frankly, I find it offensive when some basically anonymous character wants me to "come meet them tonight." Seriously, how desperate and stupid would a woman have to be to go hook up with what amounts to an anonymous phone call?

Also, the IM's from people who randomly troll through the "Who's On" list and send IM's without even looking at profiles.
And last week, we exchanged IM's & E-mails with a local couple. It took 4 communications just to get their names, even though we put ours in each message. Finally had to come right and ask what their names were.
With tens of thousands of registered profiles, we're bound to run into a few quirky people.......
I think part of this is still fallout from Craigslist personals going away. It's as if it doesn't matter to them what someone looks like. Only that they have a dick and can (supposedly) use it.
You don't really see it here but on another site we're on the vast majority of SMs either have no pic or a dick pic for the main profile shot. Though there are cases where the woman is the online presence, even in those cases some significant number of them probably do not want to see a dick pic, at least initially.
In cases like ours where a straight male is the online presence (and it clearly says so in our profile), seeing a dick pic is a turn-off and pretty much a guaranteed "NO". They must have some amount of success though because people keep doing it. Go figure.
Ok, we're not really giving up but damn it gets frustrating. Why in the world would we agree to plan a hook up without ever seeing a face pic? I mean really people.. What the fuck do you think people are gonna do when they don't even know what you look like? I'll bet we get 2 a week. People wanting to play but don't have a face pic to show. Just got an email this morning from a blue gumby. Said "hey, I'll come play tonight".
I thought. Why sure you dumb ass. Tracy would love to fuck a gumby...

Yes this is advice. Look at your profile. If you don't have a face pic even in your private section that can be seen upon contact... GET ONE!!!
