After the end of slavery, gun control laws were passed in the South forbidding African Americans to own guns.
I would not abolish the 2nd Amendment.
It’s a matter of interpretation about how to control or limit “the right to bear arms.”
I favor much stricter control than what we have in 2021.
I’d go back to placing much more control on assault weapons that have become weapons of mass destruction in too many horrific episodes in the USA.
I’d remove weapons from men who have committed domestic abuse.
I grew up hunting. I love guns as a kid.
My father had 25 and was an NRA member. I don’t own a gun today. I’d have more gun control in cities than in more open parts of the country. My daughter is a socialist who owned guns while living in Alaska and used them for hunting. I’m fine with that. She did not own an Ak-47.

The founding fathers obviously intended that one of the purposes of the federal government is to “promote the general welfare.”
You can disagree with this constitutional imperative, but recognize that if you oppose it, you are not following or embracing the foundation law for our government.
If the federal government promoting “the general welfare” sounds too socialist or un-American for you, take up your quarrel with the Constitution of the USA.
