Do you agree or disagree with that one of the imperatives or purposes of the federal government as articulated in the Preamble of the Constitution is “to promote the general welfare.”
This is not a matter of interpretation. It’s a fact. The phrase I cite is in the Preamble.
What the founders meant by that phrase or how we should interpret it is a matter of interpretation.
I’m glad the founders had the common sense to include that phrase in the Preamble of the Constitution.

The founders were certainly not arguing that the government has no role in trying to improve the general welfare of We the People.

My youngest daughter had to memorize the Preamble of the Constitution in 5th grade.
She also had in 5th grade more common sense and common decency than I see you manifesting in these exchanges.
