@some: that's because politics have became so galvanized and inflexible that rational discussion if taboo. Both sides are convinced the other side is evil & out to destroy the very fabric of society. With that at the for front of every decision, of course people are going to get away from the reason for the group.

There is zero room for middle ground. We will take the 3 biggest talking points and make a neutral statement on each. "Don't want a/an { abortion, gun, vaccine} don't get one." That's about as neutral as it gets. But both sides will loose their shit over any one of them, if it isn't what they would do.

I'm going to have to disagree GV, at least partially. When Congress members could argue all day but have drinks together afterwards and have personal friendships, they could work together and make productive deals. The best laws came from those deals.
