There should be a law about truthful labeling.

Good for you. He lied and tried. Kick him to the curb

The doorbell rings right on time. There he stood in all of his glory, 20 pounds heavier 10 years older than his pictures. I invited him in, introduced him, patted his belly and said Christmas was good to you. I winked ant him and said I’m sorry we had a little misunderstanding. I was looking for someone lean and fit just like my post had mentioned and your pictures had led me to believe. I told him I didn’t think he was what I was looking for. He got a little upset and said that I’m here. Why don’t you just give me a chance. I told him I don’t like people that lie to me try to misdirect me or deceive me.

I just smile when I'm at a Lifestyle party and a guy introduces himself by telling me that he "has a big dick". Because I've learned to interpret it as "I am a big dick".

So I get a message from some overweight pig sitting on a motorcycle telling me he has a huge cock as if it’s the only thing I’m interested in. Don’t be that guy.

Dear_diaryRegular

This is one I will never understand. My profile says specifically what I’m looking for yet for some reason you always get that guy that hits you up anyway being exactly what I’m not looking for and when you tell him I’m not interested he says why and then gets upset when you tell him. Don’t be that guy.

@deardiary, ""immediately confronted my husband, he told me that that’s a simple fix and invite him over again…..lol. ""

That's exactly how I would handle it, invite him over and see what happens. Threatening my wife wouldn't go well for people

I have 23 pages of blocked members. That must be whyI’m getting a lot less what are you into and can I see more pictures? lol

WTF, crossing that line is a bit dangerous sometimes. I met someone about six months ago and really didn’t wanna meet him again so I told him “ probably not a good match”. So he texts me letting me know he knows some personal information about me, And would like a second chance. I felt a little threatened as if he was backing me into a corner if I didn’t.. I immediately confronted my husband, he told me that that’s a simple fix and invite him over again…..lol. Wanted to know if anyone else has had the similar situation.

"We found your dog and want a reward" is a pretty common scam on NextDoor. People post their lost pets and scammers contact them claiming to have them.

Apparently a couple of people at the PD were confused/miscommunicated between the police HQ and Doggy Jail.

They didn't get my number from Caller ID, HQ wrote the number down incorrectly when they got the 1st call looking for their dog. They gave that info to Doggy Jail Warden when they said they had a dog fitting the description of the missing dog

The chip- the "jail" scanned the dog and said my phone number came up. I think what's supposed to happen is they scan the chip and then get hold of the issuer of the chip for info- like the company I paid to register the dog with- and the company contacts the owner. I think there are 2 companies that microchip pets.

I get emails from the company I used when a pet registered in my neighborhood goes missing. The owner contacts the company to let them know in case the chip number comes up, but the company lets everybody know to keep an eye out for a missing pet.

Goodenuff - "Some kind of scam? How did someone call from my number?"

The second question is easy. Phone #'s are easily spoofed. The real question is "Why?", which means I have no answer for the first question. It is ironic that you happen to have a chipped dog.

WTF?

I received 2 phone messages today telling me that they were from a local police department (15 miles away) and had my dog. When I returned the calls, one number said they found a dog, had scanned it for a microchip and the "chip" said that my number was the contact number for the owner of the dog.

The message from the other number (the 1st call I got) said that the police department had received a call from my phone telling them they had lost a dog and if they find the dog to call that number- my phone number.

My hunting dog is microchipped but the other isn't. Both dogs were with me (sleeping, they have such rough lives) when I got the calls.

Some kind of scam? How did someone call from my number?

"One common explanation was that Han didn’t misspeak. The Millennium Falcon was able to fold space, effectively shortening the distance to 12 parsecs. Yes, I know it’s a weak argument.

The more glaring misstep was the fact that folks from a galaxy far, far away used the term parsec, which is an earth based measurement"

It's a weak argument because it's offered in defense, and revision, of a line uttered in ignorance. The distance, in this example, would remain the same.

Hearing, reading, and, most troubling, echoing or repeating. That's where norms and mores come in. And why it makes a difference when those at the top ignore them.

I recall the aftermath of Oklahoma City, sometimes vividly. One episode was a series of short obits/bios of people who were killed. Just a few minutes each. This was on NPR. It went on for hours. I would describe the stories as heartbreakingly mundane." Another was an in depth story on one of the TV networks surrounding the tragic surprise of the day care center that was wiped out. Who knew? The redeeming thing,if there was one, and it did seem that way to me in some sense, what that it made people stop to think about what the hell they were saying about the "God damned government" and "Drowning it in a bathtub" etc. etc. The realization of course being that the enemy is, literally, us.

"...but I'm completely unconvinced that the number of people saying shitty things has increased in the last 50 years."

That likely hasn't changed. I think what has changed is the number of people hearing (reading) these shitty things.
