I'm a little suspicious we're missing some key part of the story here. If this is as presented, it's one of the most outrageous things I've ever heard.

In 2005 Stephen Slevin was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and stealing a car, which he says he borrowed from a friend. Slevin was never brought before a judge nor was he officially convicted of any crime. He said he wrote letters, begging for help with his depression.

Stephen Slevin spent 22 months in solitary confinement in a New Mexico jail. During that time, his mental health deteriorated, fungus grew on his skin, he developed bedsores, lost 50 pounds, and was forced to pull his own tooth after being denied access to a dentist. A recent settlement with Dona Ana County resulted in Slevin receiving $15.5 million.

Jess Williams, Dona Ana County's public information director, told NBC News that the jail is making an effort to improve the way it treats prisoners with mental illness.

Today: SAN ANTONIO -- A driver lost control of his truck and crashed it into four other vehicles on the Southwest Side Friday.

The accident happened around 2:30 p.m. Friday in the 2800 block of General Hudnell. The driver said he was drinking a "Slurpee," when he got a 'brain freeze' and blacked out. His truck went over a curb and hit four vehicles in a parking lot at an office building on Port S.A. When he came to, his foot was still on the gas pedal.

Police said the man passed a field sobriety test.

No injuries were reported.

WTF of the day, I recived a call @ 8 am asking me to come out and plow since we recived @ 7 -8 " of snow last night....
I explain to the ass-hat, he didn't really need me to plow , that he should just drive on it, Or the worst case i would go out and break a trail for him...
Ass-hat insists It needs to be plowed, I further explain that the frost was comming out of the ground earlier this week that the top 4-6 inches is now too soft to take the abuse...

SOOOO I did it and peeled up @ 2" of grass, stone whatever was in my way. ( I didn't even have it all the way down , but the weight of the truck took care of that for me.)
Now mind you he Sits and watches me do this , then comes out and tells me to push one of my piles @ 3' further so his Lazy assed wife didn't have to walk around the back of the car.
So when i did that I went beyond what was "hard", thus the real fun began to free the truck...
So in the end I left this Jackass with a set of ruts @ 24" wide each @ 20' long.....
Now I get a call that he wants to sue me, after he asked me to repair the damage, I refused telling him I warned you prior, so it is NOT my issue.
All this after he contacted the board that owns the property, to see if they will be pay him for it. They told him since he hired me he can pay to fix it....

At least the soup was good.

An English couple believes that their pet tortoises' mating ritual was responsible for the fire that destroyed their conservatory and garage, the Evening Gazette reported.

Alf Clayton, of Thornaby, Stockton-on-Tees, told the paper that the two animals, Henry and Alice, had recently woken up from hibernation. Henry "was trying to mate with his partner," chasing her around the tortoise den.

A Cleveland Fire Brigade spokesman attributed the fire to a toppled incubator lamp that set fire to the woodchips surrounding it. Clayton says Henry "must have knocked the heater over" during his lustful pursuit.

Both tortoises perished in the blaze which was put out before it reached the house.

Clayton said his wife, Gayner Clayton, was "devastated" by the loss of the pets. "We tried our best to save them" he told the Gazette, "but the blaze was too fierce."

It was reported last week that seven-year-old Josh Welch of Brooklyn Park, Maryland, was suspended for two days after he allegedly fashioned his breakfast pastry into the shape of a gun by taking bites from it until it vaguely resembled a gun. He then pointed it at another student.

The elementary school that was the scene of Josh's brutal rampage sent students home Friday with a letter describing the incident:

I think I'd need about 4 weeks on the couch of a therapist to deal with such a traumatizing event. Of course, the therapist would have to be some hot woman who joined me on the couch. I think I'd be OK then.

I think if you're child is "troubled" by someone taking a few bites of a Pop Tart and waving it around you're a failure as a parent anyway, so what difference does it make?

According to this preliminary report (20-minute raw video) from WBFF News in Baltimore, the seven-year-old was threatening other children with a crude weapon he had fashioned out of a strawberry danish before authorities intervened. Early reports suggested that the suspect broke or bent down a part of a long pastry to cause it to resemble a handgun, but sources are now saying that he may have taken bites out of a previously rectangular pastry until it assumed the desired shape.

The shooter has reportedly confessed that the danish may have "looked sorta like a gun."

There are no reports of casualties at the present time.
