What book is on your bedside table

I have about five or six in various stages of completion.

Currently in "Outlive" by Peter Attia.

Bensalem, PA, Us

I have read it once already. But, I am just starting to re-read it.

Don't Bullshit Yourself - Jon Taffer

The Temple Tiger, author Jim Corbett. If I am correct Major Corbett is the only Englishman honored by the Indian government for his 25 plus years eliminating Maneaters from the northern Himalay's. Not a sport hunter but a true caring human being. I read his first book in high school many years ago. When attempting to find these books they were sent to me directly from the Indian government. Unbelievably courageous man.

Latest addition to the Kindle:

Tragic Sense of Life, by Miguel De Unamuno

and yes, I'm only reading it because I saw it on the show Picard

Land O Lakes, FL, Us

My reading (the male) is mostly history. Currently the Boer and British war in South Africa in the late 1800s.

Her reading is mostly erotica and leans primarily toward bi girls.

We have a shared Kindle account and the library mix is surprising. Tons of history mixed with erotica and also kids books she downloaded and read to the grandkids when they were small. Anyone scanning the title list would think "WTF????" - LOL.

It's online if you want the URL.

I am in negotiations to market it as a sleep aid.

Yeah, pretty sure it could put me to sleep, but your dissertation certainly isn't on my bedside table.

“ For fun, The Collector--the new Gabriel Allon thriller from Daniel DaSilva”

I think my wife read Silva for a while. I never got into him. I used to read Clancy and Ludlum.

I finished Greenglass House. It’s a fun children’s book. Checked it out of the library for my son to read, and after I read a couple of chapters to him for bedtime, I got hooked. Now I’m looking for the sequel.

My wife has a book called Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow that she wants me to read.

I don't read in bed either.

But have several fishing magazines on the end table next to the couch.

For fun, The Collector--the new Gabriel Allon thriller from Daniel DaSilva

Looking forward to reading (about to be released) Bartleby and Me: Reflections of an Old Scrivener by Gay Talese. Likely his last book, and a look back at what used to be called New Journalism.

Fresno, CA, Us

Erotic, for some lighter rennaissance reading try The Decameron from Boccacio. I'm a particular fan of the tale of how the Holy hermit Rustico taught the comely Princess Alibech how to Put The Devil Into Hell. It's hilarious.

Currently reading Dreadnought: Britain, Germany, and the Coming of the Great War by Robert Massie. I'm in the first few chapters about the Royal families of Europe, specifically about the new Kaiser (a spoiled brat) and his grandmother Victoria (an odd combination of political savvy and utter frivolousness). It's a re-read from about 20 years ago.

Santa Barbara, CA, Us

I am re-reading something I read a long time ago: A poem.

Inferno by Dante.

If you classify having a Kindle nearby as being on the bedside table :)

I am disappointed in part of my youth. As an only child with an only parent, one who did not go to college, I was on my own to learn. I was on my own to learn everything. My mother was a legal secretary, not a paralegal, but a secretary for a lawyer. I would read whatever I could get my hands on. When it was time to go to college, I didn't know much about the schools. All I know is I wanted to go to Duke. I got in, it helped to get 1 point short of a perfect score on the ACT. However, I didn't have the funds to pay for it.

When it was time for my kid to go to school, I was not going to make the same mistake that my mother did. I was going to help with knowledge . . . and if needed, a checkbook :) I learned about Columbia's core curriculum. en. wikipedia. org/wiki/Core_Curriculum_(Columbia_College)#:~:text=Structure-,Requirements,%22%20(%22FroSci%22). OMG, that sounds so friggin awesome as an adult, probably intimidating AF to an 18 year old. So now, I am going back and picking up books in that curriculum that I have not read. Fortunately, my kid was smart and said, "I don't trust myself as an 18 year old living in Manhattan." This is the current reading list college.columbia. edu/core/sites/core/files/pages/Literature%20Humanities%20Reading%20List%20for%202023-2024_0.pdf

Just to have fun with RLAM, I may read two books on the list next to have some fun, Gospel of Luke and Gospel of John.

"The Duct Tape Book" by Jim and Tim

Hundreds ideas for using duct tape to improve your quality of life. I'm going to be a duct tape pro.

It used to be in the lower level shitter. Not sure how it and "The Night The Bear Ate Goombaw" ended up in the bedroom.

Nothing on my nightstand as I don't typically read in bed, but I just started reading Mating in Captivity by Esther Perel on the Libby app, and hard copies of A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson and Wild New World: The Epic Story of Animals and People in America by Dan Flores. I also occasionally read a chapter every so often from The Wilderness Essays by John Muir on the kindle app.

Currently finishing Briar Heart by Mercedes Lackey.

I'm currently reading Kate Milford's Greenglass House. I'm also re-reading The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy and God Emperor of Dune. I started The Man in the High Castle by Philip K. Dick, but I've only read about half the first chapter.

I'm also reading Swords Against Death by Fritz Lieber.

Too many books. Not enough reading time.
