I too grew up with Sly and the Family Stone and saw them live more than a few times. Never quite knew which Sly you were getting. RIP, Bay Area music legend.

I believe Peacock has a documentary on Sly, that covers his life, music, and demons. It was very good. So much of his music has been sampled and some that I wasn’t even aware that belonged to him.

I remember listening to Sly when he was a disc jockey at KSOL 107.7 before the Family Stone hit it big.

RIP to another Bay Area legend.

Rest in peace Philadelphia Fire Department Battalion Chief John Narkin. He battled job related, chemically induced cancer valiantly.

I was an Internet chat room friend of John's and actually met him in person once when our paths crossed doing our respective jobs of the time. He was too busy at the time to stop and chat for a while. But, he did acknowledge where he and I did initially online meet. In the chat room, John's favorite thing to say was "I was the man just in the box," when Alice In Chains' 'Man In The Box' was the song in the background of the chat room.

Wow!

I just looked up Ed Gale's Wiki page. He was also the suit actor for Howard the duck in the Howard the Duck movie and Tasha the dinosaur in the short lived TV series and of the Lost. Ed Gale was a great suit performer! I loved his stuff!

King George Coulam passed this week . Rumors here in the county he may have got to die his way . King George was the owner of the largest Ren Faire in the US . They made a documentary last fall on HBO about King George.
His dream was that when he died , he wanted to be screwed to death . He had two employees that cruised six dating sites for him. He built a real Kingdom but was a crazy person. …….Watch the documentary Ren Faire.

SNL has always touched on the political but sometime in the early 2000s it turned from political satire that playfully mocked the entire spectrum (Bush Sr.'s broccoli comment and various Clinton/Lewinsky skits) to a political platform. I personally feel this was a result of being unable to attract good comedic talent. Once Sandler, Spade, Farley (RIP), Hartman (RIP), Ferrell, Rudolph and Fey left, the talents really wasn't there to go deeper than the lowest hanging fruit. And the fruit was already rotten by the time they picked it.
