BT, from my observations on these things, the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree. Congratulations!

congrats BT! It's great to know that you did a good job raising your kids (because parents don't always know if they are doing the right thing for the kids)

I was just telling T today that I'm glad my kids turned out better than I did...

Celebrating my son’s 18th birthday tonight with my son, daughter, and ex and her beau, at my son’s favorite New Orleans restaurant. I wonder today, and will likely continue to wonder for the balance of my life, how we raised such a smart, funny, loving, and compassionate kid, and great big brother.

HT: One of my great-nephews and one of my nephews started kindergarten this week and my youngest nephew started preschool. The photos are so adorable I choked up a little.

Almost 9 years ago, I entered these fora, mostly talking about politics and news at the time. I talked quite a bit - in far too open of a manner- about a health care fraud case in California, which took us to the Newport Beach area about 6 times from 2010-2014. While there, I spend a day in a pool with - I kid you not - a Tahitian women's cycling team. Oh man.. (a forum search of Tahitian indicates that this was May, 2012)

But here's the happy thought - after 9 long years, what was by far our longest running case has finally concluded with the DOJ and California government accepting a settlement. While I'm not happy with the settlement itself - I think it should have been at least 5-8 times as much and included orange jumpsuits for some - it is finally over.

My oldest will turn 43 at the end of the month.

We have a 10 year old in the house (boat).

By the time he is 18, I will have spent my time from 16 to 67 as the parent of a minor child...

We are officially empty nesters ! Our youngest moved in to her apartment today, I'll miss her but it's time.

HT 2; I started training for my new position this week. I'm very excited for this new opportunity and it will definitely take my career in a new and fulfilling direction.

Being able to retire shortly after turning 49 this month.

Here in Florida they end the school year around Memorial Day and go back 2nd week of August. The reason is because in June and July there are thunderstorms every single afternoon and it greatly interferes with bussing kids home.

Agreed. Last day of school here is late May, so we also get out earlier. I'm more a fan of starting after Labor Day myself, but who listens to me?

Tell them it’s a hammock and see who wants to sleep in it.

...my kids are already pissed that we have to share 1 room. Not sure how I’m gonna spin adding two more. The swing poses a bit of a dilemma too.

HT- that BT is on his way to pick us up for a road trip.

Don’t tell us no BT. We already packed the sex swing and coconut oil.
