We vape synthesized Delta, smoke cannabis and eat gummies of both actual cannabis and synthesized Deltas some too. We watch our THC consumption and only have Indica at home due to its "zone out" effects. As others stated, we also love the sativa for sex and parties. It just relaxes us and we have no trouble having conversations with it.

Very much so here too.

Vape pens will have the highest concentration of THC (usually 80%+ because it contains concentrates) so you have to be careful if you have had a lot to drink. It will kick in pretty quick. Edibles tend to have lower concentrations, why it can take 30-60 minutes for it to kick in. Flower, will be around 25+%, and as stated previous will kick in quickly. We like flower before sex, because it heightens. I like edibles to read at night. Vaping, I have learned, you need to be mindful of how much you’re taking it in and how quickly. My preference will always be edibles. It does loosen me up a little and it seems to quiet down my ADHD brain.

"From evidence I have seen first hand one could substitute liquor for the word weed. ABV isn’t solely deterministic on the impact liquor will have on an individual"

By evidence do you mean casual observations?

I'll need to see something controlled in some way or at least a plausible mechanism for why this could be the case, because otherwise it's like the whole "red cars get into more accidents" argument. Red cars aren't more inherently.dangerous, but people tend to drive them that way.

From Pixie "Sativa is good cause at the hour mark I can have the most intense orgasms"... Oh YES and we are living proof this one works for us only a half gummy!

Also bought at our local County Fair last year with all the home made art work etc! Yes for us only at home or nearby friends who cultivate there own... a great blend too!

@vabeach -you said….

“ Weed on the other hand is a complex mix of related compounds whose ratios can vary significantly from variety to variety or even from plant to plant.”

From evidence I have seen first hand one could substitute liquor for the word weed. ABV isn’t solely deterministic on the impact liquor will have on an individual. Just like weed, different liquors react differently for a lot of people.

I am probably the most lovable drunk (if/when I even reach that state anymore) that you would ever come across. The exception is if I drink Southern Comfort. Perhaps it was coincidence both times, but the last 2 times I drank that (many years ago) I was actually PICKING fights. The weird part is that I wasn't angry, and I knew what I was doing, but it was like I couldn't help myself. I drank a lot when I was younger and no other alcohol ever did that to me.

The first time it happened I wrote it off as coincidental, but being who I am, I had to verify that. After some time had passed, I tried it again with the same result. It was totally bizarre but also not worth trying it a 3rd time. Luckily, everyone I picked fights with backed down and/or avoided me.

I have not drunk Southern Comfort since and probably never will again, but that is no big loss as anyone that has tasted Southern Comfort can attest to ;-)

"I do not like whiskey. Whiskey makes my angry. Rum makes my giggle."

This is entirely either a consequence of the circumstances under which you are drinking them or the speed/manner in which you are.

Like when people say "tequila makes me so drunk". It's because you had 9 of them, not because tequila makes you any drunker than vodka. I've heard many people make such statements and I've never heard of a plausible mechanism for this or of any data supporting it.

Weed on the other hand is a complex mix of related compounds whose ratios can vary significantly from variety to variety or even from plant to plant.

My drug experimenting years are well behind me. I have also cut way back on alcohol consumption at parties. I have the presence of mind to actually make my drinks weaker as a party night goes on. Since my party drink of choice is spiced rum and diet soda, my last drink of the night is usually straight diet soda, more for the caffeine than anything else.

As for pot, if they ever legalize limited growing of it for recreation use in NH, I could get into that, but that's more for the horticultural aspects of it and to save a buck on what the Mrs consumes. As mentioned before, the cost/benefit alone makes it my preference to spend my money on things I know I enjoy more.

FWIW - It costs me less than $0.50/drink for what I drink at parties. If you want some reverse sticker shock, check out what I pay for a handle of the rum I like -

I use edibles for my menopause related insomnia so mostly indica which yes we call In da couch because my body begins feeling like a lead weight sinking into the couch. An hour after I take it if I’m not in bed it’s not good. I lose my words and become a stuttering zombie. Sativa is good cause at the hour mark I can have the most intense orgasms, have great sex then go right to sleep. I only partake at home and with my husband as I do not believe they’d make me good company at a club. I have a friend who swears by mushrooms for the most intense orgasms and all around awesome sex but I have yet to try those.

"Another missed subject with weed is CBD."

I didn't miss it, I just didn't elaborate. You are, IMO, correct regarding the effects of CBD.

Your use of the term "Couch Lock" with Indica strains is synonymous with my use of the term "Indacouch".

As others have indicated, everybody's response to their ingestion of "420" varies among individuals and the type of "420". In lifestyle and other activities, we've seen more negative issues with the use of alcohol than 420.

I've never seen anyone puke on the carpet, pass out, damage something, incite physical violence (fight), get involved in something where they're not appreciated, etc. while under the effects of 420. Alcohol? Yeah, I can't count that high.

Oh, and yes, different types of alcohol (beer vs. whiskey vs. vodka...) causes different effects on different people.

Mayhem8..... Like Alcohol, weed has many different varieties and each can and will effect people differently. I do not like whiskey. Whiskey makes my angry. Rum makes my giggle. Sativa in small amounts with a few beers kills the neuropathy pain in my feet and allows me to dance. I typically use a vape pen. For me.... this is my go to party relaxer combination. Gummies absorb and hit differently depending on the gummy and the day. Vaping and smoking flower also hits my body different but similar. I always take gummies in a 1/4 or 1/2 at a time. Wait an hour and take another 1/4. This allows the dosage to be controlled. Just like drinking a beer vs. doing tequila shots.

With alcohol most of us have experimented enough to figure out what our limits are. With weed it take some experimentation to figure out how it will effect you. Start with a pure Sativa one day, then a pure Indica another. Very different effects on most people. My preferences for vape and flower is a Sativa leaning hybrid.

Another missed subject with weed is CBD. My experience is the CBD in weed is more potent than the CBD derived from hemp. At least it is how it works for my body. There are CBD gummies that are 20mg CBD to 1mg THC. I can take 1/4 gummy at bed time and I sleep better. After a few days my knees, hip, shoulders all work better with less stiffness. I credit this to the CBD.

Example: Give most people a 10mg gummy of Heavy Indica with high CBD content and they will experience "Couch Lock". They will sit on the couch and just watch the party with their ass locked to couch....lol. Give them a 10mg Sativa and they might experience anxiety and some paranoia. For someone without any tolerance a full gummy can just hit too hard. Take a 1/2 set the timer on your phone and take another 1/2 in 90 minutes. Like alcohol, body weight, what you had to eat, etc. can effect the time it take to absorb into your system.

It's best to experiment in a smaller setting than at a big party if you do not know how it will effect you.

I had thc chocolates once and it turned me into a speechless zombie that stared blankly into space and had to be led around for about 2 hours.

I dont care what people do, but 420 virtually always means no sexual interest for me because:

  1. If they smoke it, they smell like flaming skunk ass
  1. They invariably turn into an absolute idiot, unable to carry on even the most basic of conversations and repetition of both questions and answers over and over, which is incredibly frustrating.

Perhaps there are those who have used it at a level below the threshold to cause either of these problems. Ok. Then they have done so in a way that hasn't caused a problem for me. But if they are in my estimation "stoned", I just walk.

Pro Tip: Put on some Grateful Dead while gauging the sample. When you ask yourself: "WTF is that awful sound?" you'll know the effects have worn off.

Most of what I've read and experienced seems to indicate that it's use enhances sexual pleasure.

The issue is timing. Edibles take about 20 minutes to begin to work; an hour for full effect. This is the 1st place I've heard anyone say it takes 2 hours for the full effect. I dunno, maybe that has something to do with how much and the type food they've also eaten before (or just after) consuming the edible. It's difficult to gauge the appropriate dose until you've tried a known edible.

The effects for smoking is, for all purposes, instantaneous. You SHOULD know pretty damn quick if you've had enough or too much.

Because homemade edibles are typically an unknown potency, the best way to gauge how much to use in your batch of cookies (or whatever) is to take a sample of the butter (assuming people use bitter for making edibles), weigh or otherwise measure a small amount and ingest just the butter. Wait at least an hour and you will know if that's the amount that "works" for you and adjust your edible recipe accordingly.

I'd also suggest to wait until the effects are totally gone before you gauge the amount to use. But that's just me.

The first time I had pot I was 19. It was late at night and I partaked while listening to Muddy Waters. I swear that 4 minute song was the longest I had ever heard. :-)

Where do I start...? How about here...

There are different 3 common strains of marijuana- Indica, Sativa and Hybrid Indica/Sativa. There's a 4th strain, Ruderalis, that isn't typically used alone but is sometimes used in various hybrids. Each strain has differing effects on individuals.

Each strain has varying CBD to THC ratios. Indica typically has a higher THC to CBD ratio. THC is the psychoactive component that produces the "high" while the CBD (cannabidiol) has other effects.

I've heard a few people, due to it's nature of having a more relaxing effect to refer to Indica as "Indacouch". Indica can make you sit and stare at a TV test pattern, lost to the world. Sativa is prone to make you wanna paint the garage and marvel at the brush strokes (far out man...).

Indica is more calming, probably best consumed at night and is sometimes used to treat insomnia. Sativa is better suited for daytime use. Hybrid's are a tough call for when to use depending on the dominant strain use when producing the hybrid.

But wait, there's more...

I've never like the high Marijuana gives me.

I may smoke every couple of years. The Mrs, is a big pot smoker.

I've done mushrooms a few times recently. For me, it's like alcohol without the upset stomach or hangover.

You have to be very careful with edibles and knowing exactly how many milligrams you are ingesting. People always forget it could take 2 hours before it starts to hit you. I smoke flower mostly but do gummies a lot when I travel. Definitely makes sex more intense for me and wife. Downside can be that I won't cum at all. I don't pop quickly to begin with and weed can make it very hard to happen depending on the strain I'm smoking and how much I had.

There are way more positives to 420 for me than that 1 negative so I'm not likely to stop using it.

I had a bad experience with edibles. We made our own canna-butter and used that to make these awesome maple bacon cookies. I ate 2 of them and waited an hour and thought I felt nothing. In reality, they were just starting to work as it gave me the munchies. Since I thought I was getting nothing from the cookies, I ate 4 more. Big mistake.

I didn't sleep all night and was just laying there paranoid. A drawback of making your own edibles is that you have no idea how potent they are. The canna-butter was made with pot leaves, which normally get thrown away because of how little THC they contain, so the assumption was that they were weak. They were not, and I am addmittedly a lightweight since I no longer smoke pot and haven't for many years.

It was enough to make me not want to do edibles ever again. For some people it makes them more likely to party and mingle, but does the opposite to me. Aside from that, I always thought that it being made legal, which it is in surrounding states, would bring the price down. It has not, so that just adds to it being not worth while for me. The Mrs however has a high tolerance and consumes enough for both of us ;-)

I have not had any since I was 17 years old. I was not a fan of it as it interfered with drinking.

No issues with others doing it...friends/family have always done it and still do.

The gummy version has slightly piqued my interest in possibly trying it again.

Some people have strong opinions on this, especially in the form of smoke. I have seen people at parties zoned out on gummies, which seems easy to do if you don't have a high tolerance.

Some people cannot do it because of work. I am not one of them, but choose not to because I always wind up feeling less social vs more. It tends to make me feel paranoid for no particular reason, and seems to be the case for me whether it be Sativa or Indica.

I am certainly not oppose to others doing it in any form if it helps enhance their sexual experience. What's other's take on 420 in general?

FWIW - It's ironic that NH, the Live Free or Die state, does not allow recreational use by law. For a long time, that was because we had a long-time Governor that would not allow it, but the current governor does. I would expect this to change soon in NH, but it hasn't yet.
