“Not sure why this is comedic”???
Well that because you didn’t read the whole joke. If your own age falls outside of your age range, then you may not be able to see your own hot date or profile.
It’s far funnier when one doesn’t have to explain it. SMH
Sorry, you do not match their relationship or age request.
"Let’s just take this new stuff a bit further...with the site’s new rules in seeing or not seeing hot dates based on age range, why should one see anyone’s profile at all outside of that other persons noted age range?"
Not sure why this is comedic...I'd certainly be in favor of that change. More power and control over one's own profile and who can see it is never a bad thing. If we choose to set our age range preference at 45-55, why should anyone outside that range even see our profile, since we've effectively eliminated them from consideration? If we set our range too narrow we absolutely increase the chance of missing out on some great people, but again that should be our choice to do so. We're free to adjust our preferences at any point. And if some weekend we decide we'd like to find a little bit older or younger couple, we can put up a hot date and set the age preference for that specific hot date at whatever we choose without having to switch our default profile age range.
Other than simply griping that SLS makes changes willy-nilly without consulting it's members I've yet to hear a valid argument as to why this particular change is a bad idea?
Let’s just take this new stuff a bit further...with the site’s new rules in seeing or not seeing hot dates based on age range, why should one see anyone’s profile at all outside of that other persons noted age range? Now take it even further down a comedic road just to show how ridiculous this is. Say you are 50 and your age range is 30-40. Will the powers that be make it so you can’t even see your own profile? Lol
I’m in agreement with Choose.
There has been a lot of things on this site lately to make us upset. This is not one of them.
This a bunch of Horse Shit.
If I post a hot date that says that
"We are looking for Blonde Headed Midgets". Now I have 6' tall Blondes looking at my profile. Nobody is going to call management and tell him that they need to fix the Hot Date system.
Fix shit we request.
This website is to facilitate meeting other swingers. Communication with others is essential.
This "improvement" serves very little. It does not appear to have positive results. Somebody in the basement really screwed up.
This was a mistake.
Nobody has expressed a need for this. To say that you do not want somebody looking at your hot date that is not within your parameters is absurd. There are many, many profiles that state "Single males, we will contact you". Yet they will still contact you.
This is something that needs attention.
I am only going to say this one more time SLS decided nothing except to add a new feature that allows the USER to set up a "Hot Date" with parameters that exclude people based on age. SLS is not the one deciding the limiting factors but the user that set up the "Hot Date" is. Your anger is directed at the wrong source and apparently somewhat at me for pointing that out. To be honest if you think about it would you even want to get together with someone being so "judgmental" as to exclude you because of your age? Of course the whole thing could be a fantasy where they wanted say a younger man or woman or in reverse want someone older. If you don't fit the fantasy then you simply do not fit the reason behind the posting. It is up to the user that posted the "Hot Date" who they allow to see and reply to it. Oh and as far as SLS being asked by a great number of users or just pulling this new feature out of thin air I neither know nor care. I do know lots of sites I use (lifestyle or simply shopping) allow the user to narrow searches a lot more than this site. When searching for something specific that is a good thing for the user looking but not so much for the user "advertising" and I get that. The thing is folks who post a "Hot Date" are looking for something. They are more like "wanted" than "for sale" ads. It is not the SLS that you should be upset at but the person posting the ad that sets up the exclusions.
With all of the recent and very questionable changes and "upgrades" SLS has made, we're wondering why this one is causing so much outrage. SLS is not preventing anyone from viewing a hot date, the profile that generated it is. There is no issue with users having the ability to block certain profiles or profile types from viewing their profile, but if they are looking for a specific age range or gender for a hot date there is an issue?
"Hey Rustic, There is alot lot more than just your age that can influence a decision. You could be older than our age parameters but have an incredible personality. Why should SLS NAZIS decide that for us. There is Not some damn SLS law that says we cannot step outside our profile description or desires. Fucking Bullshit stuff They created."
Please re-read what Rustic posted as it explains the new hot date situation better than most posts I've seen. SLS is not limiting you from seeing ANYTHING. You will see every single hot date where you meet the requirements for that single hot date based on the criteria chosen by the person posting the hot date. If I post a hot date it's about what I/WE want...not what other users want. Whether someone sometimes steps outside their profile description or desires is irrelevant. If I say I want 45-55 years olds and someone is 43, I don't want them to see my hot date because I've chosen to eliminate them, and that's MY call. The last thing I want is to have to weed through a bunch of "We don't meet your criteria but you'll really really like us if you give us a chance..." messages. Best that people who don't meet the criteria not see the hot date at all. If I'm too restrictive in my hot date criteria I may not get many responses, but that's on me.
Personally I don't see anything wrong with the current hot date setup, and the only people who don't like it seem to be of the mindset that they should be able to see EVERYTHING simply because they are paid members of the site. Sorry, but I want as much control as possible over who sees what I put online and the new hot date setup gives me a little control over that.
I will agree with others that SLS should just go ahead and suppress any hot dates where the viewer doesn't meet the criteria of the poster. There's really no benefit to saying "Here's a hot date but you don't meet the requirements...". Just hide those altogether.
Constant, we completely agree with you.
Apparently rustic believes that this site is so forward thinking that they have done something no other LS site has done. That they have found something thousands have been silently asking for.
That, or more than likely this site has lost their way and minds.
Hey Rustic,
There is alot lot more than just your age that can influence a decision. You could be older than our age parameters but have an incredible personality. Why should SLS NAZIS decide that for us. There is Not some damn SLS law that says we cannot step outside our profile description or desires. Fucking Bullshit stuff They created.
I think everyone bitching and complaining about "Not being able to see the hot date.' or "Being outside the age range." is forgetting one very important thing. It is not SLS that decided the age range for the Hot Date but the one that creates it. Personally I think it is working much better than the older system because it removes time wasted sending someone a message when you don't fit the criteria they want in the first place. I think a hot date should have parameters the person putting it up can set so that they find exactly what they are looking for or at least are only contacted by those close enough to it. Think about it from the other side. Putting a hot date out there means you are seriously looking for something on a certain date or date range. That means that it is a green flag for everyone in that area to contact you. Never having set up a hot date (but we have replied to a couple) I cannot be sure but I imagine you get flooded with messages. Adding modifiable parameters puts some limits to that.
Total BS! Extremely limiting on a site that's intended to facilitate meeting people. We match with no one now....
I'm blocked to every hot date except one within a 200 mile radius of Mobile for next Saturday.. as a test I made myself as a hot date visible to all 3 profiles and I was visible. I deleted it and I'm back to just the one. I feel I should be able to view all dates. I am not a fan of this new format. I dislike being told what I can and can't do on a site such as this. Ciao ya'll.
Why in the hell does SLS think they have the rights to tell us who we want to see or look at ?
Our profile clearly says that if we want a single guy that we will contact him. Are the SLS NAZIS putting them in "Time Out" ?
If we require condoms are they gonna start blocking any body from talking to us the does not wear condoms ?
So THATS why our Hit Dates get not response. Smh
Just wait...soon a couple posting, looking for another hot attractive couple will be a Hotdate you can’t see as the powers that be, have determined you are neither hot nor attractive.
that7girl - That would only work if the profile placing their hot date indicates that as their age range for the hot date. It's not base don age range in a profile, just the age range put in the date.
The age range in our profile is 30 to 70. However, if Ms Choose, for example, hand a craving to have a young 20 something gentleman join us, we could post a date for a single male with an age range 18-29 for the date. Anyone can still see our profile, however, the only profiles that can see our hot date would be single males between 18 and 29.
We think of it this way..
Preferred age in profile - This is the generally preferred age range but are not bound by it
Preferred age range when creating a hot date - We have a hankering something specific and age falls into that category.
However we do find it silly that the developers cannot find a way to simply not show those hot dates we do not meet the criteria for.
Is the solution then for everyone to change their preferred age to "18 to 99" , or some other broad range ?
Yes! With the help of Hotluvrs, we have confirmed both members of the couple need to be in the age range in the posted hot date in order to view it. Hotluvrs posted a date with a date range up to 45 years old. Mr Choose is 44, Ms Choose is 48, we could not see the date. They changed it to 48 and we could then see it. Swingers work so well together!!
Two notes about hotdates:
1) we just posted another test hotdate, and it showed up almost immediately.
2) when you select your age range for a new hotdate, for a couple to be able to see your date, BOTH have to have an age that is within your range.
Collaboration is a wonderful thing.
Question? Answered!
Excellent question Choose. We just posted a test hotdate for your area on the 13th of this month. Let us know if you can see it. We set the age limit to 45yrs.
It is our understanding that whether or not you can see a Hot Date based on preferred age is not based on what is in the age range is in their profile. When someone creates a Hot Date, they have to select an age range for that specific Hot Date. If you are in the range they select for the Hot Date, you should be able to see it.
One thing we've been curious about. Do both people in the profile have to be within the range set in someone's hot date or just one? Mr Choose is 44, Ms Choose is 48. If the date has a range of 25-45 for example, will we be able to see it or would the range have to go up to/above 48?
Couldn't agree more. We are fortunate to have friends (and playmates) of a wide variety of ages. We are even "out of spec" for some of them! It just doesn't seem to make sense for SLS to filter based on the age criteria. Quite a few people probably haven't changed their acceptable age ranges in years! It's just another case of SLS shooting themselves in the foot and making the site even less useful to the paying members. We are sure they'll come on and explain what an amazing improvement it is but we aren't seeing it.
WTF. Can't tell you how many people we have met on Hot Date that are 'Sorry, you do not match their relationship or age request.'. this is ridiculous.
