New matches is flawed

TTP: Using the X on profiles is a worthless exercise. It really is for your benefit only. If you happen to look at a profile twice and see that you already made a judgement on that profile, you don't have to re-read lengthy profiles, like ours. The instructions for the Star ratings says that "Your indications will SOON be available for search and whosonline and will be visible in most places." In SLS development speak that probably means 5 years.

For weeding out smokers (no pun intended) I believe there is a search question that will do that. But you have to click the Hide button AND specify No.

Another example of how flawed it is. I had viewed a profile a while back, but they didn't fit one of our hard and fast rule, of no smokers. I picked the X on their profile so they wouldn't show up in searches. Time goes by and they showed up in our newest matches again.

@slswayne, thanks and I get that. We’ve been signed up for cruises in the past but not seen this amount of profile traffic- especially 10 months ahead of the cruise. Not a biggie. We were just wondering. No further follow up required. Thanks again.

@RonKathy I know I can do that but this behavior is recent. Just wondering if others have noticed similar and what may be causing it. Maybe we’re just popular all of a sudden ;-)

Within the last 2 weeks or so we have been getting between 50 and 100 profile views a day. 90 percent of those are from couples that are hundreds, if not thousands of miles away. We’ve made no changes to our profile preferences or location so we can’t really explain why this is happening. Anyone else experiencing this?

I actually got blocked by a couple, who had no interest in a single male, just because I looked at their profile, because it showed (and still shows) in my Newest Matches. I never contacted them (because their profile showed that they had no interest in males), and I only looked at their profile because it was suggested as a match to me.

It's so random that our profile occasionally pops up in random matches section. After all, who's a better match for us than us?

As I recall, the New Matches function is only set up to match YOUR criteria, not any one else's. Which makes it pretty useless, but I fear that it would be far worse to have the SLS IT gerbils actually try to fix it, given their track record.

if anybody views us , we say hello . some answer back some dont . thats our policy . must be honest i think the site is a waste of time , but i have way to much free time on my hands .

I am mainly concerned about whether or not the profile that is returned has any interest in a single male. Those keep on showing up on my random and new matches.
Mileage from me has not presented itself as being an issue.

not really , look at there locations , its just a reasonable drive from you .

Match means just that a match. Not a hit and miss result. A match means that your profile matches indicators on their profile. That is how their results should be returned. Yes SLS has issues through out the website and maybe other things have a higher priority but the match system is basic.

I don't think the SLS random matches are anythibg but that. A shot in the dark without any accounting to preferences. If so, then expect a mix of everything.

Scooby is right. Random matches has been showing members that have no interest in single males. This has been going on for a while now

I just wish the newest matches respected the age range of the person. I keep getting the row full of youngsters that only want other youngsters.

I was just going to post about this. I have notice in the last couple of weeks my Newest Matches and Random Matches quite frequently list people who have no interest in a single male.
