lifetime members that generate no revenue after their initial payment.

I would suspect that Lifetime members constitute a large portion of affiliate program users. In that regard they are still generating revenue for SLS [and the members themselves].

Wayne: are most Affiliate member program users Lifers?

Over the past 10 years, we heard the "We are working to fix it" response hundreds of times, yet the site is at an all low performance point.

Fed up, we signed up on another site, and man, it is so refreshing to be on a responsive site, everything looks modern and works fast, and there is no Gestapo approach to customers. We even contacted support for a small issue and it was fixed in two hours.

A lifetime member leaving does cost SLS too. They take their friends with them, they form circles elsewhere, and they don't promote the site to others. Do an online search and read the negative reviews SLS gets, way far more than any other site.

The money has never been the issue to us. It's $150, big deal. We will pay it elsewhere and start over.

This is our last forum post..... Wayne will probably delete it.

one follow up point.

When we signed up years ago, the chat app worked on a Mac, then it quit working and remained that way for years until SLS was forced to redo the site at the end of last year due to the discontinuation of Flash support across all browsers.

We contacted customer service several times and was told it would not be fixed and it was Apples fault for not supporting Flash.

It is not Apples job to support SLS. Since we were lifetime members, we have no recourse, but how many paying customers were lost due to the inability to support current browser functionality? Of course, we will never know, but the stance at SLS seems to be “heres our site and if you dont like it, then go somewhere else”

With online business being so competetive i would think SLS would try harder to better support their user base.

its just a matter if time before an Amazon like comoany sees the value in a lifestyle site and has the infrastructure and support to better support it an SLS will be out of business.

As the user base ages, SLS needs to get more younger users and the younger generation doesnt put up with the “we’re working on it” excuses. they will move on to something that works now and SLS will gradually fade out of existence.

SLS is a brick and mortar store for the lifestyle.

Wayne, your response helps clarify a couple things and does indeed expose a flaw in my arguement.

in a nutshell you said:
Paid members get frustrated with the site performance and let their memberships expire or cancel them.

As such, your primary user base is still lifetime members that generate no revenue after their initial payment.

therefore, by not implementing new features, modernizing the sites front and back end, and improving site issues that your lifetime user base identify, SLS is effectively shooting itself in the foot and getting rid of a portion of its paying customer base.

Seems counter intuitive in terms of a business model.

Also, i appreciate your comment regarding it is your livelyhood as well. You are in a tough position but all people want is for the site to work but have ver little faith in your developers due to the continuing and never resolved issues. Might be time to get some better developers and hardware before you guys cant continue to function.

Wayne: Unbelievable logic on your part! It is undeniable that this site has
many problems that never seem to get fixed, let me rephrase that, never get fixed. Yet you seem to think the only reason people contact you via forums is just to bitch. Wayne the bitching, griping, ranting as you call it is a manifestation of the poor quality of the site. As I previously said, fix the problems. I know about good customer service and satisfaction Wayne, most everyone does. Getting snarky replys to legitimate problems that dont get fixed only leads to more bitching, griping and ranting. Fix the problems!

<p>The site has been running much better tonight (at least for me). The hot date issues should be corrected now. The issues from this morning should also be fixed and one of the developers worked on the picture upload issue this afternoon and so far I have been able to upload the majority of pictures without any issues now. There are still some quirks with PNG files, so if you know how to do so, converting them to JPG should work better for you.</p>

<p>there is no incentive to meet the requests of paid up lifetime members. No cost benefit to the business."</p>

<p>I'm sorrry, but that makes absolutlely no sense! For that to be true, we would have to be specifically going out of our way to make the site not work for lifetime members and work for paid members. What I think is happening is that the paid members that find the site performance unacceptable just let their memberships expire and they leave. The lifetime member that get upset don't want to leave because they have lifetime memberships, so they just come in here and complain and stay on the site. That is the logical reason why you see more lifetime members complaining. </p>

If y'all are so unhappy here, there are plenty of other swinger sites on the net.

But y'all keep coming back, so it can't be that bad.

I've been here 14 years, so I've paid about 50 cents a month to be here.

The site does what I want it to do. Not necessarily the most efficient, but it gets the job done.

as i posted in another topic, a cursory glance of members complaining is around 70% lifetime 30% paid.

there is no incentive to meet the requests of paid up lifetime members. No cost benefit to the business.

think of it like a used car dealership, its all nice, like new, and shiny when you drive it off the lot after the polish it up, add some touch up paint, and stuff to the engine to quiet that knicking noise, but after the 30 day as is warranty expires, it starts to fall apart and the used car dealer knew it would, but they got your money and have no incentive to fix it like it should have been fixed to begin with.

Easy for you to say Wayne. You arent paying! Anyone who has paid, certainly, and especially after repeat problem and issues that go unfixed, has a right and reason to rant! Fix the problems with the site and your problem of people ranting goes away! Simple solution!

there is no reason WHATSOEVER to have the exact same type of negative comments posted over and over ad nauseam

And the best way to avoid that is to actually fix the problems. There is no reason WHATSOEVER to have the exact same type of problems happening over and over ad nauseam.

<p>I fully understand and no one is ignoring anyone. Do you understand that ranting serves no purpose and does not solve any problems? Being negative, rude, or speculating and posting inaccurate information does not help anything. I've checked this forum area a dozen times today alone and I report all issues to my superiors. But there is no reason WHATSOEVER to have the exact same type of negative comments posted over and over ad nauseam.</p>

And management doesn’t understand why so many members rant. It’s things like ignoring or locking topics that COULD improve the site and member engagement that feeds the fires of discontent.
