Hackers, Fake accounts, Extortion

Simple fix: Don't give out your number, simple as that. We don't, even when setting up a meet. If the person or couple shows for the meet, then we will give a phone number, if they don't show up, then you have nothing to worry about. AS FOR GOOGLE CODES - Take note, hacker are now using that code system to steal cell numbers for their own use. Happens on Craigslist all the time... "use the Google code I gave you to verify you are real" and BAM!, you are no longer the only owner of your cell number. We don't use childish apps like KIK, because we prefer to enjoy life with our phone in our pocket, not spend our life with our phone in our hand like a teenager. Besides, sooner or later someone will be hacking that too. SO, keep it real, and keep it simple. Set up a meet.... if they don't show up to a meet, your phone number is safe and there is one less flake you need to worry about having access to you personally.

Let’s say someone could do a lot with your phone number. I use a google number and kik to verify person before ever considering to meet for adult activities. I have found the safest way for me as a single female, is just go to local club and browse, or set up meeting at club. Too many fakes and yes hey can find out your info from personal number. I don’t know about contact list... play safe and protect yourself

As I have had my main email address since 1995 I get tons of those types of emails. I'm sure the OP was talking about the scam that says they hacked your email account, and did so thanx to your use of an adult (porn, dating, or swing) site I've had all of them sent to me... The last one was sent to an email address that is only used as a paypal account no logins or anything. They prey on people who do not understand technology...

I don't have any advice now that you are currently dealing with this but I do have a suggestion.

Set up a Google voice number and give that out instead :) you can forward the calls to your cell and that way you are not giving out your actual cell number.

Obviously I am ignorant and techno-challenged, but how did someone get "everyone on my cell phone plan" by just emailing with you even knowing your phone number??

Has anyone here come across this on SLS?
I exchanged phone numbers with someone after a couple weeks of e mailing. That is a fairly common thing I’ve done and think most of us here have.
After the normal messages back and forth, this person went back to the e mail we had been using and listed everyone on my cell phone plan and threatened to send all the texts and pictures to them.
It looked like an e mail where the names were changed and this is something fairly common for them to do.
They wanted $1000’s of dollars in gift cards sent to them in a timely fashion.
I wasn’t budging because I don’t have anything to hide but at the same time I don’t need my “private life” shown to my family.
I do believe there are still some of them on the site and kik is always the best option.
Is there really anything that can be done about these people?
I believe they’re males pretending to be women.
