In February of 2023 the business blocked free members from signing up for events. I'm sure that had a big impact on event sign-ups from SLS. The site usage has remained about the same.

Fewer People
Some people are on other lifestyle sites or on two or more. Some sites are more regional. Some nationwide. We use another popular site as well as SLS.
We've always gone to larger events. Up until recently, the SLS sign up was pretty accurate for the number of people attending.
The details of your post make it sound like more people are possibly using other sites, not that less people are using SLS.
Usually only see large events cross promoted, but more people at a party than are signed up seems like a good thing as long as the hosts know and the venue can accommodate the difference.
I've noticed fewer and fewer people are using SLS. As an example, we went to a party about a month ago. Based on the SLS sign up, we were expecting 50-60 people. When we arrived, the host told us the party was cross promoted and they had 109 people confirmed. We're looking at a hotel party later this month. SLS currently shows about 35 couples signed up. We got an email from the host saying the hotel was now completely booked and they were giving out info on a 2nd hotel. Most of the groups in our area are still using SLS, but have their own sites and could run independent if they wanted. This wasn't happening 5 years ago when we first joined.
