The people trying to pass themselves off as Billing was a separate issue. That banner has been taken down now.
[LOCKED]Billing message on home screen
So the story is, someone created fake profiles and represented that they were site admins asking for payment. Ok.
You have removed those profiles. Ok.
Can you then explain why you have to restore photos?
This does not makes sense to someone that owns a software company.
Can you explain how the photos got entangled in a few rogue profiles?
Steve
Unprofessional. When's the last time you saw a major website run a banner for weeks like this? They don't. They chose a venue where they are sure to get the info momentarily to each user. Broadcast a message. The banner takes up half th screen on a phone. Ridiculous.

Kinkypothead,

The profiles that did this were already found and taken down. That is why they disappeared from your view. We posted the message in case they try to create any more profiles, so hopefully people will be aware and not fall for this scam.

They tried to rip me off. Any idea how to communicate with any actual administration around here? Whoever it was must have some extra abilities on the site because after I complined to my bank and let them know I was having my card shut off I saw they looked at my profile and for just a few minutes their picture was on my home screen. They were able to remove themselves from my who viewed me before I though to take a screenshot. I believe she was from Kentucky or tennessee and was a nice looking probably hispanic lady. Listed as a couple. Late 40s or mid 50s.
They send you a message stating that you may have used a stolen credit card to make payment and that they need your personal information to verify that it is not stolen.
It would be interesting to know if only people who recently made payments are being targeted or if this is random.
If only recent payers are targeted this would indicate to me that inside info is being used
Thanks SLS Wayne.
This doesn’t sound anything like the A.Madison hack.
The A.Madison hack was a sophisticated, motivated, well planned and executed hack. The hackers got in through a hole and got access to sensitive data without the host realizing.
This sounds like a simple phishing scam.
SLS certainly is vulnerable to being hacked but the rewards probably wouldn’t be worth it for any potential hacker.

The site was not hacked. Someone has been creating "fake" profiles trying to misrepresent themselves as our billing department. They send you a message stating that you may have used a stolen credit card to make payment and that they need your personal information to verify that it is not stolen.

The site's official billing profile is named: BILLING. That profile may send you a notification that your membership is about to expire, but that is it.

Yes we have it, wondering same thing?
Does everyone have the billing message on their home screen and does it imply to you that they have been hacked? Why else would they ask us to report a billing email to them. Hope we don't have another Ashley Madison on our hands
