Gainesville is this weird anomaly in Northern Florida. As my Social Geography teacher taught us, Gainesville should be about 1/3rd the size it is. That population should actually be in Ocala, to the south of Gainesville. But because the city has the largest university in all of Florida, that pulls the population. Because it is a university town, what also makes it an anomaly in North Florida is that it is heavily democrat.
Well, guess who wants to extract some vengeance on them? Yup, @JandE's favorite conservative, Ron DeSantis. Ron and his cronies have determined that GRU, gainesville regional utilities, which has been around since 1887 can no longer be run the way it is. Why is that? Because GRU has stated that they will be 100% renewable by 2045. See that TRIGGERED them. So now DeSantis is using the same shit he did against Disney to destroy GRU and take control of it. Something tells me that as soon as they take control of it, that the board will decide, "This is too much for the city. We should sell this to Florida Power and Light or Duke Energy." Then of course, it will be a tiny sale. It will be enough to take over the debt and a small pittance.
