1. A lie is a lie. Lying can sometimes be criminal, sometimes it cannot. As an example, If I said SLS was the best website ever, would I be lying or not? It becomes criminal when I tell the bank that I have 10mm in bonds at another bank and they use that information to make a decision to lend to me. That is fraud.

1. You want to compare past presidents and ask if they were saints? I am sorry, what does that have to do with CRIMINAL acts? Obama did not leave office and have criminal acts being investigated. There is a huge difference between puffery and lying. Trump does both.

At the end of the day, I think there was some immunity deal given to Mazars. If not, this was enough to see them go the way of the Enron accountants. If I were a lender, I'd be scouring through every deal I did in the last 10 years with Mazars name on the financials. If I saw that . . . I'd be nervous and send out my own teams to protect my loans.

I think it was Cap One that did just that and will NOT restructure Trump's debt on one of his properties.

I am telling all of you . . . until you have had to sign deals for significant money, you have no idea what it is like to deal with lenders. Lenders are not stupid people. Their underwriters are REALLY not stupid. Their lawyers are not stupid. Generally, there are tons of covenants in the agreements. Fail to comply with the covenants risks an immediate call on the whole note. It also gives the lender an out so that they can rework the loan. When you borrow enough you are no longer a customer of the lender, the lender becomes your partner.

Trump's refi situation will get interesting. I still think that he will be able to refi his shit. He may not like the terms, but someone will do some hardmoney lending. In fact, I think Trump has had hardmoney lenders in the past/current. They will want 150% collateral, prime +8 to +10 as well as a PG. In otherwords, Trump is going to the equivalent of a payday lender.
