SOTW, if the Let Friends Find Me setting under Settings -> Privacy is enabled then, yes. That setting may allow people with your phone number and email to find you on Kik.

Everytime I get on KIK it asks if I want to search my phone contacts for friends who are also KIK users. I always click no.

Just wondering..... if someone in my phone contacts says yes, will I show up??

Another good reason...it's not owned by facebook. Yet.

It's well established, user-friendly, lean, by far better alternative to SLS IM, and most couples I know use it. That's my exclusive use for it, oh, and the privacy controls are very simple and straightforward.

No KIK for me...

Prior to becoming active in "the lifestyle", I used several other Messengers for private conversations. I had one that I espescially loved. So when folks in swinging circles all started referring to Kik, I was a little reticent; I liked what I had. But now, having used Kik for awhile, I find it's actually a very good app. It's well-used, allows flexibility with names, has group features, have live video chat, etc, etc. It's really very versatile and suitable.

With some friends we do text using phone numbers, but mostly, Kik is good.

You have a setting in kik under privacy to prevent others from finding you based on your cell or email.

Because the last thing you want is your kids kindergarten teacher to discover that you also go by "pussyjizzer81".

You can make your KIK user name anything you want. Be careful because it also asks for a name which is confusing because if you are new you do not realize that Everyone Can See Both!! After we chose a Suitable screen name, we used our mashed up nicknames as our name.

Yes, other apps not # or such. I was just curious. This is new to my wife and I. We set up kik. And my wife used her real name unaware. And some guy found her on Facebook. Scary!
I use mewe for same reasons. Really good encrypted app. Can set messages to self destruct , etc,etc.

I have never heard of the other but do prefer k.i.k. To texting or email because first we prefer not to give out personal information like phone or email until we get to know each other. Second with k.i.k. We can all chat at same time in a group kik and lastly if we find out we are not compatible ( do to rudeness or just being a jerk ) we can easily block that person so we don't keep getting bothered by them.

You mean why kik vs phone numbers, or why kik vs other apps?

If you mean the latter, it's just well-established. I don't think it's complicated. I've never heard of that other one.
