"I sucked at growing carrots my first 2 attempts."
Growing carrots is easier than almost anything, so you were probably growing the wrong kind for your soil. Or you pulled them out of the ground every other day to see how they were doing. ;)
Nantes carrots are almost foolproof, because they're chunky and grow in a variety of soils, so long as you loosen it up some before planting.
Made a short detour on the way home so we could pickup takeout from our favorite Mexican restaurant, Mi Casita.
Phoebert had a stuffed poblano dinner with refried beans & rice and I had a burrito Jalisco dinner with salad of shredded lettuce, shredded cheese, pico de gallo & sour cream. Plus an order of guacamole to go along with the included chips and salsa.
I was at an informal banquet for my bowling league. I had a vegetarian dinner... Potatoes, broccoli and a salad. I couldn't have anything else. Preemptively though, I had a big lunch at a gluten free fried chicken place called Love Bird.
Wanted to try a Hungarian/Polish restaurant but they weren't open tonight so had more German food at Heidelberg Restaurant tonight.
Phoebert had Gulasch with spatzle and a side of German potato salad and a Bauernwurstteller along with a German beer and I had Hühnerbrust with Zigeuner sauce and spatzle and grilled mixed vegetables and a glass of Sauvignon Blanc.
The alcohol was required as we sat outside, overlooking the courtyard where the nearby bar was having Karaoke night. Three really bad participants and a little girl (maybe three years old) that wanted to sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. She was the best of the bunch!
"More German food - tonight at the Hofbrauhaus Restaurant in Helen, GA."
Wasn't the Hofbrauhaus the place in Hammelburg that Hogan and his heroes frequented when they got sick of the cuisine at Stalag 13? I think Colonel Klink liked the Wienerschnitzel.
