The same thing was said, with the country names changed, in 1914, 1939, 1941, etc. Isolationism in the US is not new, but it's never been right yet. Yeah, we've been in places we shouldn't have gone (Spanish-American war anyone? Grenada?), but fights against tyranny and oppression and for the possibility of democracy and freedom? Isolationism is just another word for nihilism.

As far as what you want the folks in DC to do, almost all of those things are either being done already (want me to talk USDA programs until your ears bleed, including the super valuable programs axed by the GOP?) or are up to the states.

Government actually works a lot better than people think.

The Feds only control the interstate system, the other roads you have nothing but the States to thank for crappy roads.

We have no business with Ukraine. The billions we have poured down the toilet on this mess would have been much better spent fixing up our own problems here at home.

If those folks in DC cared about the USA, they'd fix the roads, fix the energy infrastructure, help make farming possible so we can feed the people, scoop up the criminal filth and violence in the cities. Or better yet, just stop, go home. Do nothing, repeal the taxes, and give people their money back.

Instead we're wasting billions, murdering people abroad while we have no dog in the fight, and letting our people suffer at home.

I am appalled at the smug audacity that people here in the US act and talk like the invasion of Ukraine and their trying to protect themselves is all some ploy to affect the US in some way. We, along with other nations, ARE trying to help them to defend themselves, because it is THE RIGHT THING TO DO. But it is farcical to think Russia invaded them for any reason having anything directly to do with us. It is even more farcical to think Ukrainians fighting for their freedom has anything directly to do with us. But, what happens in the end will affect the entire world. Of course they are, Ukraine is THE BIG THING! Remember when it wasn't? Remember when Covid was THE BIG THING? And then Vladimir Putin literally killed covid by invading Ukraine which made that the NEW BIG THING, and then the mask and vaccine mandates went away because that wasn't THE BIG THING anymore?
