Surprise

Well that's a surprise- others here feel the same way that I do about the "Reply to_____" button.

Specifically my issue is with the multiple "requotes". One reply is OK but it's confusing (to me) trying to follow the multiple posts by multiple participants and having to scroll to read the damn thing.

I think the feature was added due to some people indicating that other sites have a different way of presenting discussions- that they couldn't follow a conversation when other, unrelated discussions appeared between posts on a topic they had a an interest in.

Personally I only had an issue when someone responded to a post that I couldn't read and I sometimes thought the response was to something else.

Which often led to some humorous exchanges by others in the same canoe.

“I fully understand that no matter what I think, someone will think the opposite, but I have to go with what I think. Also, no one has to keep quoting over and over. Don't blame the quote design. Blame the people that quote 10 levels deep.”

Guilty as charged. ; )

Being able to quote partial posts or individual sentences (as we do with copy and paste) would be an improvement.

I would suggest that the ability to trim the whole thing down would be great.

I'm not sure how that could be done without allowing the ability to edit someone's words and make it appear they said something they did not.

I might use it to reply to a short post or comment, but not a long one, or if I'm replying to a specific sentence.

If it's possible to have the quoted text be hidden by default with an option to show quoted text, that would be ideal.

I think it is a good feature that could use some tweaking.

Im not IT so i couldn't suggest what to do.

[quote=goodgollymsmolly98226]Eh. It's not you. SLS's tech people maybe never engaged in ongoing conversations or just didn't think about what would happen after a dozen or more replies. I quoted a post multiple times and I then I looked at it and said to myself, "Amazing! That is perfect and is easy to read and follow."</p>

<p>With that being said, myself and the site are open to suggestions. After not having a quote option for nearly 25 years, we put this together in less than 2 days. <br />

Getting back to the topic at hand...

I once had a girlfriend who had a rather friendly black lab. We were getting jiggy, missionary-style, and the lab decided to come say hello by hopping up on the bed and sticking his nose up my butt. I jumped about 3 feet off the mattress. I think that qualifies as a "surprise".

"TBR said a few weeks ago. I challenge you to show me somebody that’s entirely sane."

tbr has been saying that for as long as I've been here. So around 16 years.

Nobody is entirely sane, but some are definitely less entirely than others.

@Window

I'm not advocating for Jim Jordan nor denouncing him. He's had as many from OSU (staff AND students) defend him as say he should have known.

I don't accuse people of crimes or enablement of crimes unless I have something solid in front of me. It's why I haven't outright accused Clinton.of diddling girls on Epstein Island. Unlike you, I don't care about which party a person is from.

As for your triggers, I hate that you've had to go through what you did. There are fee things in this world as heinous as the sexual abuse of children. It's why I don't use it's reference as a personal insult tactic and only make references to others who do.

While I could care less what you say to me in political forums, or when you stalk me to other forums, or (as of today) start sending insults via direct message, you may want to analyze your own actions a bit or step back a little from posting in the political forums; it's not healthy.

You should probably hire a therapist.

Or fire the one you have.

Either way, seek better mental health.

With mayhem and molly in mind i will try to be less lazy about that button.

"There are several ppl of the same opinion."

Including me. The decision to nest replies just makes conversations unreadable for me, so I skip anything that tacks on more than one post.
