<p>We are looking into allowing free profiles some form of contact. We blocked them because of FOSTA. FOSTA makes websites liable for the actions of their members. If a member of this site commits a crime, the company can be liable. </p>

One on which one does not expect to draw customers by refusing them a chance to observe the product.

I believe mayhem used the term value, not me.

In our case though value has been found in a few long time friends ,of intelligence and worth,. The LS has led us down some interesting and unexpected paths, some interesting trails to follow.

As to finding a reason to partake in this conversations in the many forms it has taken:

I have a belief in an actual LS Community, with real people, sharing real lives honestly with each other. We have traveled with our LS friends through some very good and some very bad times. I actually shared love once with both my wife's and her husbands blessing. We have buried a very dear friend.

In other words we have been able to share with others in a way that we have not found in Church, political ,service, or vanilla social worlds. We have found that the LS can at its best strip away the walls and BS that most folks hide behind. At its best Heinlein would be proud of the LS.

So why do I care enough to want the things that block people off from each other to go away? It is because the LS has been interesting, involving and it has brought us joy.

We feel a need to help spread that experience and resent blockades placed against that.

We are also lifetime members and, if I did the math right, our nearly 12 years on SLS is also about $0.03/day and that number will continue to get smaller.

Like the sentiment mentioned already about the limits on free members now, it's not as likely we would have joined backed then with the current free member restrictions in place today. Back then, you had the opportunity to prove whether SLS would work for you, or not.

If we had joined as monthly members, once we had gotten established by being on the invite list for a couple of local LS parties, we'd have likely dropped our membership. I do enjoy the forums and see some value there, but not likely enough to warrant paying monthly. Our lifetime membership was $149 back then. Not sure what it is now, but that was enough to want to have some assurance that a membership was worth it.

First of all , I am clearly not a free member, although I might as well be .We joined with a lifetime (now called unlimited) membership in 2012

I do not think of myself as a skinflint. I generally buy quality over price. Because of that most purchases involve personal experience with a product, a credible recommendation from some who I believe has sufficient knowledge to provide it, or a money back return policy. We rarely return anything.

The first two of these we received while free members just before we signed on. If all we had been able to see was what free members now see, we would have passed it by.

I haven’t heard anyone use the term pig in a poke since 1984 when my grandparents passed away. Neither of them believed in being a freeloader.
