Mobile App Pics

Gettysburg, PA

Due to all of the confusion, we have temporarily lost trust in this site , so we deleted all of our pics except for the default which identifies nothing.

We sincerely hope for everyone's sake that this is just an overreaction on our part. Maybe after the smoke clears we'll reconsider adding more.

LOL

Maybe you can get a job with SLS...

FunCouple4Play503, we have heard that if someone does not log into sls for a certain amount of time, their profile does not show up in a search but remains active

Can somebody explain why a couple with full body, clothed, looking at a mountain or sunset with their backs to the camera is not child safe, but the same couple in swim suits with their faces blurred is kid safe? Does not make sense.

Also, curious why the same picture will come up for approval 2 or 3 times?

Also, when looking at the SLS name in the right hand bottom corner of the approval picture and then doing a search for that name, comes up with no one with that name about 25% of the time. If it has that name associated with that picture, then it should be searchable, right?

Also, if the app is only going to show kid safe photos, why would anyone use it?

Glad this process makes sense to somebody...

sls_WayneC: "Blurred faces and facial features covered up are ok (assuming the rest of the picture is 'G' rated)."

That is useful information and might allow for far fewer gumbies. I do wonder how many photos will now have to be re-re-rated. But that's me, always looking on the negative side.

The administrators clarified this:

Blurred faces and facial features covered up are ok (assuming the rest of the picture is 'G' rated).

Your face must show unaltered or no G rating and you're otherwise just advertising clothing.

A little clarification needed; cropped heads and head shots from the back are out, but what about blurred faces and faces with something covering them? I originally hadn't scrolled down and seen the guidelines, but was just using common sense, which I was only 75% correct under SLS guidelines. The SLS guidelines seem way too restrictive.
Another thought as I went through hundreds of photos; Are these people really trying to get laid with that picture? Frowns on faces, a picture of your fat gut with your head and legs cut off, cropped cleavage where you can hardly tell what the picture is. I could go on but you get the point. If I saw half of these pictures on a profile, no matter the age, I would say to myself, is that really the best representation of you, and if so, no thanks. I realize this is subjective, and it would make a big difference if the profile had 2 photos or 20.

This issue would be a lot easier for us lay people to understand if all you tech nerds would stop describing this issue using geek-speak terms like "Unholy goat fuck".

"Are we to surmise that instead of making all new members compliant from the get go, SLS just threw their pics in with the million others that need reviewed?
Why am I even asking."

that sounds about right, and they are trying to get US to do the work for them

Fresno, CA, Us

As I've said before, they just need to set up the database dump into the mobile app so that it doesn't automatically pull the photos (and you can't tell me that it would be impossible to do). If anyone wants to have their photos visible on the app, then they can just add them in, while following the new guidelines. You could still have the photos approved by Lifetime members, but it'd be more manageable.

That would be a LOT faster and less disruptive to the SLS community at large than the present unholy goat fuck of a procedure.

So apparently new profiles are not required to meet the "kid friendly" standards.

Brandt new profiles in the past few days feature defaults of headless pics, full frontal nudity and blurred face pics.

Are we to surmise that instead of making all new members compliant from the get go, SLS just threw their pics in with the million others that need reviewed?

Why am I even asking.

So that would suggest the site will search your public folder for acceptable photos before defaulting to gumby mode?

This may be one of those un-intended consequences of the changes for the mobile platform. To their credit Tech Support did respond to our inquiry and indicated it's a known problem. The problem? Our default picture is out of sync with different parts of the platform. I offer this not as a big complaint but hopefully letting other users understand what may be happening to them.

When we look at "who's online" we see picture A (wife in swimsuit) as our default. However when we click into our profile we see picture B (wife in nightclub chair) as default. When we post in the forum picture A is posted. Problem? Picture A is not the one we've selected as our default photo. I know that technology does not always follow a logical pattern. However you'd think (well we would) that there is only one central location to "fetch" the picture the user has determined to be the default.

The app will depict your profile picture from the website. On the website, if G is met, a picture will appear on the website, therefore appearing on the app if not equal to G, Gumby presides.

Still not clear to me whether the interface of the app with the website will allow the app to trump the website. In other words, if we don't comply with the silly rules for public pics on the website, will these be "redacted" to gumby format on the app, or will they be redacted to gummy format (or deleted) from the website as well?

Not being a tech guy I don't fully understand to what degree "the app" and "the website" will end up being the same organism.

Anybody?

They will remain on this site and under the TOS. Visible thumbnail requirements have changed, soon you will be a Gumby too, unless your profile picture that is your chosen default one HAS YOUR FACE, unedited in any manor. Soon everyone wanting their secret identity will either have to expose themselves or be a Gumby until someone clicks on your profile.

So they are taking our profiles and pics and copying them to a mobile app. Did they ask? How is this different then stealing and putting it on another site?
Just asking

Charles Town, WV, Us

SOTW: From a logical point only, I would like to play devil's advocate with your given default gumby picture.

Why would I click on your profile as the default picture stands? You have nothing to entice me to open your profile. This question is most likely used daily for those seeking others, only to see a gumby default thumbnail and will continue to play out daily amongst all members who want anonymity if what Wayne is saying holds up.

What it boils down to is members profile advertising will be condemned and prejudiced against for not exposing themselves to others on a mass scale.

We're the type to make lemonade (more like mojitos) out if lemons. Now that we're Gumbys we came up with a cute Gumby related tag line.
