Sitting here with two smelly farm cats in my lap and the dog at my feet listening to the neighbors pop off fireworks, while watching that cheezy alien invasion movie.
Happy Independence Day y'all.

Helped a buddy install headers for rafters on his barn yesterday. Not sure of the heat index, but it got to where we could only work about 30 min before going in to cool off. Then a steak dinner with roasted corn. His horses will enjoy the roof once finished.
Welcome to Texas summer!
Happy Independence Day, please take a moment to remember How we got here! It seems to me a lot have forgot what once made us a great nation.
One nation under god with liberty and JUSTICE for all.
This Fourth of July:
Preparing supplies and completing chores through the 4th for most of the month due to a major Maxillofacial surgery for myself, as soon as it’s preauthed; at the same time, we are currently preparing the house amenities for Mrs. 888 second surgery later this month, as a recent MRI and consultation this week revealed a fluid sac and the herniated disk from the initial surgery didn’t stay in place because it so far gone, so the surgeon is doing another laminectomy on a different vertebrae, as well as two spinal fusion bone grafts with metal rails and plates while he has her on the table in an attempt to reduce recovery times and pain.

@ outdoorlovers. We hear you. Heat index is 106 in Texas today.
Dogs on trails...
When I used to do a lot of hiking in the coastal mountains of SoCal, more than once I'd have someone tell me to give their dog a wide berth. Because the pooch had spent a bit too much time carousing in the poison oak which covered the lower canyons, made them grumpy, as you can imagine.
I made myself a mile long list of things to get done around the house this weekend.
Heat index approaching 100. Supposed to be like that all weekend. Just tore up the list and bought a couple of 30 packs of natty Light.
I work in this heat all week. Didn't really want to spend my weekend in it also.
My dog is sweet and funny and amazing and nothing like those two. ;-)
I was walking my little dog on an off leash trail a couple of weeks ago, and passed a couple with a stroller who apologized for the dog we'd find around the next bend. He'd caught a rabbit and wouldn't leave it. Eating it was a surprisingly loud process.
Hi and High Everyone: What are you going big on this 4 th weekend, Hot Dogs, Hamburgers or Beer? Have it all.
Tastes like wild chicken
House sitting for family while they're up at their cabin for the holiday. Just chillin' with 5 farm cats and an enormous old dog who is part lab part black bear. He's also a big baby who's literally afraid of the dark.
Jorge the semi-feral outside cat nailed a rabbit last night. He wasn't pleased when I walked in on him in the garage just a few moments after bringing it in.
Nature, red in tooth and claw.
Kinda like Andrew/Robin & HFT...

‘Cept the dog can lick itself, while those two haven’t gotten there yet, but I’d guess it’s not from lack of trying
One of my dogs had surgery earlier this week and needs to be kept quiet and calm. Since he hates fireworks, that means I'll be sitting in a windowless, well insulated room in my basement with him from about 3pm on. He'll be high as a kite, so I might have a glass of wine. ;-(
I'm like Trump...
I saw a window of opportunity, and was on it like a son of a bitch.
Nantucket Neanderthal as a username would get hella clicks.
@Centralbu k. Now That sounds nice.
<<GROAN>> HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Kids are coming over in the afternoon for swim and grilled burgers, then trying to keep the dogs from dying of a heart attack.
When I drop my pants, the ladies ask if I'm from Nantucket.
We're planning a quiet evening of sitting out back after sunset and listening to the neighbors shooting off fireworks.....hopefully no one starts a field fire or gets hurt.
We're headed to Nantucket. There is a decent amount of space between the houses on the beach we're we will be and there is a nice big porch overlooking the water.
Sounds like fun, E&B.
Thanks Plzrs. Every once in a while I get a good night’s sleep...
OnT: I ended up making a calendar switch with my ex, and now have my kids with me. So, weather permitting, we’ll probably go for a long walk, here in the city, with a stop for a snowball (Italian ice/snow cone/shave ice) followed by tossing something on the grill, and either movie or game night, with some conversation about our country’s history and future.

Our reg swing club is have an all day pool party 12-12, so we are working the 1st half of it, grilling the burgers and dogs
