Life has been rough lately but I just received happy news from my daughter. She just received a distinguished alumni award from her college. That is my HT. :)

@ Lady

Perhaps you and Tramp should celebrate that milestone on a cruise. Out of New Orleans on January 28th.

No, his TV appearance was doing a ridiculous stunt performance... sort of like the "Boomerang Fish" act done on the Muppet Show.

You'd love this guy I have on my team Andrew. He's all about how Illuminati control the world, the earth is flat, "they" are spraying chemtrails on us, etc. He even takes it a step further and claims that atomic theory is bullshit and we are all made of vibrations or something.

He's a good player and otherwise a nice guy, and he even appeared on TV doing something ridiculous. I can't say what because that would reveal who he is.

This Friday will be great. Robin and I, and my daughter, are going to Huntington WV for a Trump rally. My friend Mel and her high school age son are meeting us there. Her husband can't get off work for the rally but he's joining us after. So the 5 of us are doing the Trump rally, which is the first one for my daughter, then a big family dinner together after it. Us adults are all swinger friends. Mel and I text almost every day even though I haven't seen her since June, been friends for 3 years. May you all be so lucky to find friends like that in the lifestyle. :) No play this time, vanilla family get together. Last time we were at a club, probably next time will be the same.

I played at the Red Sox complex this morning in Fort Myers. I was called in to pitch with the bases loaded and one out, which sucks, but I struck the next two batters out to get us out of the inning, which was great.

Pitched 3 more innings and we won the game. We enter the playoff round of our tournament on Friday.

All happy thoughts....

Just finished up the month of October with multiple fundraisers where I work for a local group that helps support women and men going through breast cancer. They help with rides to chemo, running errands, picking up meds, paying utility bills, driving back and forth to Dr appts, co-pays...you name it. I am so proud of our company that raised more than $5000 and it is still coming in. The happiest thought: Paying it forward, looking forward to celebrating my 5 years cancer free in January!

HT- booked my hotel for next Monday night! Can't wait to see friends that I haven't seen in years, and meet one that seems like we have met but really haven't.

We are in Fort Myers for a week-long baseball tournament. I will play at least 7 games in one week. 2 today. I'll probably be pitching at least 30 innings this week.

My poor old body is going to be so unhappy about this.

It could be argued that the turkeys did fly but they didn't make a good landing. :-)

On that note, most pilots (especially the pilot instructors) will tell you that any landing that you walk away from is a good landing. Not so sure about the landings you swim away from.

Along the lines of Happy Thoughts and the current turkey theme, we hosted a 30th wedding anniversary party for friends last weekend. We did a traditional turkey dinner. It was a surprise party and the happy couple came thinking we were doing a "pre-holiday" party and even brought one of the sides (squash). Hey, we'll use ANY excuse to have a party...lol

Anyway, we did the bird and did so in a way we have done for years now based on something we learned on the Cooking channel that made a lot of sense to us. We cook our bird in the oven breast side down, then flip it over to brown the skin the last 30 mins or so till it's done.

The reason for this is that a lot of the fat and juices are on the dark meat side. Cooking it this way makes it almost self-basting. We also use a digital thermometer and set the alarm for 173F. As I recall, poultry is done at 170 but 180 is recommended for turkey. Taking it out at 173 and covering it with aluminum foil has the bird still cooking about 15 mins after it's removed and will rise up to about 180F.

We learned a LONG time ago to not trust those pop-up timers. If you wait for that there's a good chance that the bird will be over done. Our guests raved about the turkey even though we really didn't do much of anything special. Figured I'd pass on the tip though to maybe make someone's Thanksgiving a little happier.

Fun Fact: the "Turkeys Away" episode is based upon a real occurrence at WXQI in Atlanta in the 1970s. According to executive Clarke Brown. All typos are [sic]...

The turkey drop was actually a real incident. It was at a shopping center in Atlanta; I think it was Broadview Plaza, which no longer exists. It was a Thankgiving promotion. We thought that we could throw these live turkeys out into the crowd for their Thanksgiving dinners. All of us, naïve and uneducated, thought that turkeys could fly. Of course, they went just fuckin’ splat.

People were laughing at us, not with us. But it became a legend. There were other stories of this nature that were embellished [on WRKP]; that one was really not embellished that much. Although the turkeys were thrown off the back of a truck, as opposed to how it was depicted on the [show].
