Had to resurrect this old thread to make a few points.

Non-flexible cock rings need to be sized properly to avoid what some have mentioned and that is when the penis gets so engorged with blood that it creates its own blood flow blockage and can be dangerous. If the ring is tight when the penis is flaccid, it's too tight. Of course, you don't want it to fall off, either, so experiment with different sized silicone or soft plastic rings until you feel comfortable with a metal ring.

The extra-wide bands are more comfortable than the rings that are basically a thick loop of wire. Mine is almost three-quarters-of-an-inch wide and very comfortable for all-day wear.

Medical grade stainless steel is the best option for metal rings. It's non-allergenic and doesn't react with skin the way chrome and other metals can. Also needs no maintenance and is non-porous.

I prefer the rings that are big enough to go around the base of the whole package so it won't slip off when the penis is soft. Put both balls through, then the shaft. Sized properly, this will lock the ring into place and stays put.
