The phrase "we will have to agree to disagree" gets misused a lot these days. "Agree to disagree" is something we do when it's a matter of opinion. Does pineapple belong on pizza? We can agree to disagree. Is Ryan Reynolds hot? My wife says no. I say yes. We agree to disagree.

But with matters of fact, truth claims like "Christian Fundamentalists are infiltrating adult sites to get dirt on their neighbors," we don't have to agree to disagree. We can look at the preponderance of evidence. We can apply Occam's Razor. We can evaluate your claim and reject it for being unsupported.

Does that make sense?
