I've had a problem like that too: all I can see is my response ro someone initiating contact and it looks weird. These original message was sent to us about two weeks ago. I've tried all the ways to bring up messages and nothing is working.
Bummer.
Weeks in my case. Last night I scrolled back a couple of weeks to check on something and it was a jumbled mess, plus the initial exchanges were missing.
I mean, sure, I like to live in the moment, but I prefer an accurate record of my written communication.
That's certainly a better system than thinking that the messages will still be on the website a couple of months after you sent them, huh?
We know that's not gonna happen, this is snapchat, not some weird adult communication site!
Generally I have no problem regaining past messages through their message me prompt unless I've deleted them or perhaps they have.
I find it helpful when given phone numbers and names to create notes on their profile page with that information. I won't lose it then unless they block me.
Even if you never delete messages and find your history with a particular profile it may be useless.
We've been messaging someone for months (keeping the interest alive) while they relocate. I tried to find a message from early in the exchange when he sent his phone number (I never contact someone by phone until we're actually making plans to meet) and found that some messages were missing and long messages were often incomplete. Of course the message with the phone number was nowhere to be found.

Like everything in the improved website, it may work for some, it may work for all sometimes, or it may work occasionally.
We have messaged people several times that seem to have no messages until after we have sent them a new message. It's terrible.
EdandBritney, that is not correct. It maybe intended to work like that, but it doesn't. The message history is gone from many profiles we have communicated with within the past two months. The search function they have in the message window only searches within the displayed "list" and the "load more messages" will reset the search
Basically if you want to find message history, you just have to keep hitting the "load more messages" button until you find what you are looking for, or your finger gets tired!

Is there any plans to create something like Envelopes of "the old days" that we can reference to see our communication history ?
Today we have to send a message to a profile just to get our past messages. Sometimes it takes two or three messages to open old messages. If our last messeges were of
a "no interest" nature this can be embarrassing to both couples.
We understand that this website is for communication purposes.
