Updating Your Age

Lake Butler, FL

There is a couple in our area that the Female's age is 26. They have been on SLS for 14 years. I'm guessing they didn't join when she was 12 years old so she is most likely 40.

We do keep our ages and weight updated.

Just be honest about your age, and update it on your profile when your birthday comes around. You can't change what other folks assume, which will be different for everyone anyway. Some will assume you're subtracting years, some will think you're being truthful, some will think you're adding years.

But I will say this, if someone is being untruthful about their age and suddenly changes it, say they spend several years or more showing they're 50, and all of a sudden they change to 53.... people remember that. So honesty is the best policy, in my opinion.

SLS does not automatically update a persons age listed in their profile. So when viewing someone's profile, do most people look at the posted age and add to it the number of years that person has had an account on SLS to figure out their real age? Or do you assume people are updating their age in their account profile, so what we see posted is reasonably accurate? I would like my age to be reasonably accurate, but my fear is if I update my age that people will assume that it's not accurate and add 10+ years to it, making me much older than I am. How are you handling this issue?
