Not a fan of hearing people losing jobs but in this case it's great. Fuck'em
Twitter Takeover
Twitter on Friday laid off employees in departments across the company, in a severe round of cost cutting that could potentially upend how one of the world’s most influential platforms operates one week after it was acquired by billionaire Elon Musk.
Numerous Twitter employees began posting on the platform Thursday night and Friday morning that they had already been locked out of their company email accounts ahead of the planned layoff notification. Some also shared blue hearts and salute emojis indicating they were out at the company.
Elon Musk said Twitter has seen a 'massive drop in revenue' as more brands pause ads
By Friday morning, Twitter employees from departments including ethical AI, marketing and communication, search, public policy, wellness and other teams had tweeted about having been let go. Members of the curation team, which help elevate reliable information on the platform, including about elections, were also laid off, according to employee posts.
“Just got remotely logged out of my work laptop and removed from Slack,” one Twitter employee said on the platform. “So sad it had to end this way.”
You have your thoughts and others will see it differently
Misspoke or mislead? Pulling the post makes it suspect!
I already agreed that he misspoke.
"Yes, he omitted the “while” when referencing the “SS up, plan B premium down” part of his speech."
I see it as a simple mistake, you see it as an impeachable offense.
Without playing the "whatabout" game, it is painfully obvious that ANY public speaker let alone a POTUS will stumble over a word from time to time (well, maybe not Obama, think what you will of his politics but that was one eloquent MFer) or misquote a stat. Most people understand context, but some choose to ignore it when it reinforces their bias.
I will just point out once again that for someone who keeps pretending to want fair and equitable treatment of both sides, you desperately seek out ANY hint of mistakes on the left while completely ignoring the glaring issues on the right.
Feel free to keep beating this dead horse, I've made my points very clear to everyone who is open to understanding them.

Let's see . . .
News outlets have anywhere from 3700 to 4700 employees let go at Twitter.
Are conservatives happy that a bunch of Americans were laid off during the holiday season?
It's interesting to watch the situation. Musk, who has publicly claimed his disdain for advertising is now in a business that relies on it. He is also forgetting who some of the largest advertisers are: Car companies. Ya think they are going to advertise on his platform anymore? Why would they? He would see the ad buys and the outreach. He could put Tesla ads there for free. He could learn how they target. I sincerely doubt there will be much if any of Tesla's competitors advertising there anymore.
I am still going to give him some time to see what it looks like. In 07 I did a presentation in front of Tech Coast Angels. That is a SoCal VC group. I was pitching a social media platform that was niche but was not free. It was paywalled and I was only looking at $5 a month. There would be no advertising. I had a few who thought it was interesting and then a lot who argued the Facebook model. Ultimately, I did not do it. I think Musk is trying to find that line if there could be a paywalled social media platform. I can sit back and see if it works without risking any money :)
And when fact checkeed what did they do, why they pulled the tweet, and then came up with a bullshit excuse ....
Here is the article once again for people to read and decide on their own
https://www cnn com/2022/11/02/politics/fact-check-biden-white-house-tweet-social-security-inflation/index.html
The end of the article says what?
The last part of CNN's article sums it up.... the people can decide for themselves if they read the whole article
"Facts First: Biden’s claim that this is the first time in 10 years that seniors are getting an increase in their Social Security checks is false. Inflation prompted an increase in Social Security payments every year from 2017 onward: 0.3% in 2017, 2.0% in 2018, 2.8% in 2019, 1.6% in 2020, 1.3% in 2021 and 5.9% in 2022.
The context around Biden’s Tuesday remark suggests he might have botched his usual scripted line about 2023 being the first time in a decade that Social Security payments to seniors are increasing at the same time as their Medicare payments are declining. Regardless of his intentions, though, this was a presidential address just a week before Election Day, and he said something that was plain wrong. "
Scamp, if you have issue with the article, talk to your beloved liberal news source and get them to print a retraction
And speaking of context, his quote began, “And on my watch…”
Name me one president in history who doesn’t take credit for things that happen while they are in office, even if they weren’t directly responsible for it.
As for the “for the first time in ten years” part, had you read the actual fact check article rather than just the headlines (an annoying habit of yours) you would have seen that he was likely referring to the fact that it is the first time in 10 years that SS payment are up while Medicare plan B premiums will go down, something that he has said many times.
So did he misspeak? Yes, he omitted the “while” when referencing the “SS up, plan B premium down” part of his speech. If you are trying to make this his “covfefe” moment, you are grasping at straws.

COLA
Cost. Of. Living. Adjustment.
Please tell me what more context is needed. FFS, do you need it spelled out in crayon?
~Scamp
@Scamp
"I guess that since anyone with a brain already knows that the SS is a COLA (Cost Of Living Adjustment), we all know it is tied to inflation and therefore is a larger increase than in recent years. Apparently, the "anyone with a brain" assumption doesn't include magat cultists? "
Yep you truly are a special one aren't you
We all know it is tied to inflation but Joe tried to take credit for the higher increase. So i guess you are saying Joe doesn't have a brain?
The entire quote was from CNN duh
https://www cnn com/2022/11/02/politics/fact-check-biden-white-house-tweet-social-security-inflation
Washington CNN — "President Joe Biden keeps touting the size of next year’s increase in Social Security payments.
But his boasts leave out critical context: Biden doesn’t explain that the reason the 2023 increase will be unusually large is that the inflation rate has been unusually large. Nor was that context included in a misleading post from the White House’s Twitter account on Tuesday – a post the White House deleted on Wednesday after it was widely criticized and Twitter affixed a fact-check to it.
In addition, during a speech in Florida on Tuesday, Biden falsely claimed that the 2023 increase in Social Security payments will be the first increase in 10 years. In fact, there was an increase in every year of the Trump administration and the first two years of the Biden administration. "

Finally a LEVEL playing field.. now lets move it to YOUTUBE, FB, and other sites..!
Guess FACTS do matter.. oh wait dont they now want "Amnesty".. For the Covid Liars who said it was science !
@Scamp
So let's see how this sits with you

Imagine that - Biden finally being fact checked - Fair treatment is such an enlightening thing - it should be welcomed when people on both sides get fact checked As I said I trust neither party, both are corrupt but as noted you continue to avoid acknowledging such.
ROFL!
People are testing Musk's 'free speech.'
What is trending?
Trump is dead.
Now, what will Musk do about that?
LOL - A liberals most frightening words - "treated the same way" Those Karen's melt down when they have to play by the same rules-----
My statement
"Treated the same way is not a hard concept…… and contrary to how you think Democrats run the scumbag route just as much as Republicans - I don’t trust either Party - let’s see if you are capable of saying the same!"
And to prove my point your respond with insults and can't even admit both sides are corrupt and can't be trusted - so who looks like the fool now?
You really are too dense to have a conversation with dth.
Everything you are blabbering about has already been answered in my posts, you either choose to ignore it or can’t understand the words.
This is why no one else engages with you here, and why I need to stop.
~Scamp
What part of
"a platform in which both liberal and conservatives are "treated the same way" with respect to free speech."” is so difficult to understand.”
Treated the same way is not a hard
concept…… and contrary to how you think Democrats run the scumbag route just as much as Republicans - I don’t trust either Party - let’s see if you are capable of saying the same!
"the truth is easy"
The truth is hard. Lies are easy...
@Scamp
“I contend they already are, as long as they stick with the trutH”
Now that is some funny shit, whose truth are we talking about? Like all the fact checkers that mysteriously disappeared after Biden took office kind of truth…. Ya know like they all fucking packed their bags and left town to not facts check the lying ass Biden kinda truth?
Fuck outta here
I didn't miss your point dth, I was just expanding on it.
You want conservatives and liberals "treated the same way with respect to free speech". I contend they already are, as long as they stick with the truth. The only ones banned are those who spread conspiracy theories like the big lie or that vaccines are killing millions of people. These are verifiably false, yet many people are influenced by the misinformation so it needs to be shut down.
I am simply saying there still needs to be some fact checking, otherwise, it may as well be 4 chan or whatever nonsense source Mickey finds his q-droppings on.
@Mickey, I will go with the "preponderance of evidence" to verify what is true, and what is nonsense.
~Scamp
@rabbit..the truth is easy, seems we forgot that...Its the discussion your opinion against yours..not your google against my google
Scamp Im curious, How do you know for fact the things you just said were false, are actually false? Im very curious and waiting for your answer.
Mickey
Scamp you obviously missed the key point
As I stated - "a platform in which both liberal and conservatives are "treated the same way" with respect to free speech."
I am an optimist. I will wait and see what Musk does. It's his sandbox, he can do what he wishes with it. I think he is going to get a very quick lesson in walking a tightrope though.
He has to placate what segments?
Users of the service: That would be the ones who want it free of harassment and ones that claim free speech.
The law: Good luck with all the different country's laws and now you have Texas and Florida who want their own laws.
The advertisers: Yeah . . . advertisers run from Kanye why? Are they going to be on a platform that could harm or damage their brand?
His partners: How does he make them money?
This is a very hard thing to do.
Imagine, if you will, a platform where only verifiable facts are permitted.
Of course the first question asked, “who will do the verification”?
The issue I have isn’t with who is posting, it’s with the content. A difference of opinion is one thing but when a clearly false statement (the earth is flat, the election was stolen!) gets the same prominence as proven facts, the results are the gaslighting that is currently taking place.
With no restrictions, twitter might as well just be another onion, a parody site for misinformation.
~Scamp
BINGO DTHD. That is something we have not had in a very long time. We have to realize that these Democrats and Rinos have been in control of the power levers for so long. Just like Q said, " she was never supposed to loose, she being Hillary. Trump defiantly put a pipe wrench in their 16 year plan. And believe me he and the World leaders are just getting started on finishing the Cabal Deep State Kazarian Nazi mafia. All truthfully for the good of the World and Humanity.
