@Marion

Learn why we have two Dakotas. Learn why state lines are where they are. Then you will learn that you are not correct in your assumptions.

Hamilton, AL, Us

@EA: without the electoral college, wed have "the hunger games" in three generations.

Hamilton, AL, Us

Minority rule? Democracy? We have a representative Republic with a democratic voting system. Specifically designed to stop democracy in our representative Republic. If popular vote was the law of the land, Alabama wouldn't need to bother voting, not to mention Alaska. The point of the electoral college is to prevent heavily populated cities from running the country unchecked. As for the representation factor, each STATE having equal representation does the same. It works for a reason, it just doesn't benefit you.

And I'm not an anarchist, but a little anarchy never hurt anyone. To that point, if you read your history.... anarchy is exactly where this path is going to take us.

Now probably double or triple that because that is just 'one' department.

“ Would it be interesting to find the line item on how much of a check we wrote to Mexico for this? :)”

I’ve actually just been looking into what we already give them.

Lol

"Well I would say to implement a process. But obviously ours sucks and we don’t have a solution at hand."

We do have a process for working with Mexico.

cnn. com/2023/09/23/us/mexico-us-border-patrol-agreement-migration-surge/index.html

That is just one highlight of it. There are more.

Would it be interesting to find the line item on how much of a check we wrote to Mexico for this? :)

"@EA: we are polar opposites on every political concept you just mentioned. Especially the representation and electoral college. Honestly, I would think you would like those concepts. It's a touch socialist, and that's your bag."

You are doing it AGAIN.

I feel compelled to remind you, MORE PEOPLE VOTED FOR TRUMP IN CALIFORNIA than any other state. Stop assuming shit.

I like democracy. I do not like minority rule.

As I mentioned, something like 80-85% of the us lives in urban areas, the rest are rural. 15% of the country should not dictate what happens to the other 85%.

We are NOT polar opposites. The only way to be polar opposites would be if you are an anarchist.

Irondequoit, NY, Us

“ WTF does WORK with Mexico even mean?”

Well I would say to implement a process. But obviously ours sucks and we don’t have a solution at hand.

Irondequoit, NY, Us

“ Are you trying to be like Marion and 2out that say, "fuck em all?"

Not at all. I never implied that either. We need a better process than we have now. It is not a process that needs to be customer satisfaction focused.

We are not doing this to get likes on our page.

Hamilton, AL, Us

@EA: we are polar opposites on every political concept you just mentioned. Especially the representation and electoral college. Honestly, I would think you would like those concepts. It's a touch socialist, and that's your bag.

@Marion

'@EA: your are operating under the misconception that there are two parties. There aren't. There is one big party and we ain't invited. There are two departments in the big party. Each one has a placating department and a fundraising department. They say what someone wants to hear and the ignorant masses who already pay +/- 50% in taxes just donate a little more."

That is a cop out and that is Mickey level bullshit.

We do have two parties. Are they the same? Again, going back to what has been talked about, the differences between what all Americans want is NOT that far off. We bitch mainly about how to execute it. You know, like we are doing here.

I don't want open borders where any tom's harry dick can come in. I don't think you do either. I think you want immigrants. I know I do. Call me SELFISH, but I want the people coming in to help make sure my SS comes through :) So we are bitching about how we accomplish these goals. We can argue if it should be 100 or 1000. We can argue if it is in the source country or at the border. But we ultimately, at the highest level, want the same thing.

So those two parties are just like you and me. It is the odd assholes that are in a party that aren't really part of the party that are trying to minority rule. Yeah, I am looking at you Gaetz, Roy, Boebert, MTG, etc.

Fuck, we already have enough fucking minority rule in this country because of the bullshit electoral college and the disproportionate weights that states get with Senators. Yeah, Wyoming has as many senators as California does or even Florida. Wyoming's population is roughly 1/10th of Alabama's which is roughly 1/8th of California's. Hell, I live 45 miles from a CITY that has more population than all of Wyoming.

"If we WORK with Mexico????? Maybe there won’t be as many people forced into staying?

It is not burden shifting. We open our borders to please Mexico? No."

It is burden shifting.

If we took them in, they would go straight into a detention center. That means costs for us. By metering, we are forcing them to stay in Mexico. Mexico is picking up the tab.

We already work with Mexico. You are asking for them to do more than was negotiated in the past. For that it will take concessions on our part. This is why I said that is political suicide. Going to say, "Well, we had to give Mexico something that we didn't because we want them to ____ with immigrants to our country."

And by work . . . I know you keep saying it, but you are TWISTING words because you are not saying what that means. WTF does WORK with Mexico even mean?

Santa Barbara, CA, Us

@One

"Why do you care about wait time if it is not in our country? Fuck it takes seven years now. What is a year and a half?"

Again . . . asylum.

Are you trying to be like Marion and 2out that say, "fuck em all?" I brought up the Cuban baseball players as an example for a reason. Imagine if you were seeking asylum as a cuban . . .

You walk into the American embassy in Havana. First off, you are recorded going in and out. Your path is known. Now what? The cuban government grabs you and says, "WTF dude. Why did you go in there for 2 hours?" You say, "I am checking on my mother in Hialeah?" Cool, welcome to prison. You ain't getting out of there . . . ever. As @Marion would say, 'determent.' Congrats, you just killed asylum. Congrats, you just supported a dictatorship. Now, are you one that says, "Fuck it, that is THEIR problem," or do you say, "That is inhumane and we should do something about it," or do you try to do something a little slightly different?

Now, let's go back and think through history . . .

Pol Pot - you want people to go to Phnom Penh, assuming there was an embassy there, and request asylum? ROFL.

Saddam - you want people to go Baghdad . . . wait . . . wtf? The shituation (yes I spelled it that way to emphasize what it was) was so bad that we closed the embassy.

Iran - ain't gonna happen.

Caracas - closed

Again, these are reasons why I don't think it is feasible to do it in the countries. Hell, just think about this job posting "Want to live abroad? Now hiring 10,000 US citizens to live across the world. You will be part of the Red White and Blue immigration team. You will be part of the process to approve or deny asylum. We are looking for judges, security, and various other support positions." ROFL. I can imagine going to my wife and saying, "Hey, I got this awesome opportunity for us to live in Baghdad. They need judges to determine asylum. I think it would be a great place to live and raise our 3 kids."

Yeah, that will fly over well with the wife. Her first response would probably be, "I am sorry, I didn't get the name of the attorney representing you in the divorce, could you say it again?"

"And do you know how I can prove the border situation is exactly what both sides want? Because the D & R have both had enough control at some point to unilaterally do something. Yet, no solution has been implemented."

That is a cop out IMO. There are SOME that don't want it. It is a minority rule.

Again, 2013 . . .

85 to 15 - a bipartisan bill passed in the Senate with a TON of reform in it.

Boehner killed it.

Just like McCarthy just said, paraphrasing, 4% of the party can not rule the remaining. Boehner should have saved his tears up when that bill passed.

“Look at how long it takes to get an interview for a B1 visa. It is over 500 days.”

Why do you care about wait time if it is not in our country? Fuck it takes seven years now. What is a year and a half?

We do not have to be in the customer satisfaction business on this.

If we WORK with Mexico????? Maybe there won’t be as many people forced into staying?

It is not burden shifting. We open our borders to please Mexico? No.

Hamilton, AL, Us

And we will cover this again: above the state level, there is only one party & two advertising departments. It's all political theater & we're just a captive (literally) audience.

And do you know how I can prove the border situation is exactly what both sides want? Because the D & R have both had enough control at some point to unilaterally do something. Yet, no solution has been implemented.

"You love twisting words.

We are not telling anyone anything. We are going to WORK with them. As you stated. They don’t want them either. It’s a win/win."

You love omitting words :)

Mexico doesn't want people camped at their northern border. They don't give a fuck if someone comes in and spends some money, some time and leaves. The US is forcing the person to stay in Mexico. The US is burden shifting.

In regards to visa applications, that is handled by the state department.

travel.state. gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/step-1-submit-a-petition.html

travel.state. gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/tourism-visit/visitor.html#overview

Go have fun with those two. Then go to the last one. Put in some random cities in the world. I put in Chennai. Chennai is known as where a lot of nerds come from out of India. They speak Tamil and English. Look at how long it takes to get an interview for a B1 visa. It is over 500 days. The rest are quick. Put in Caracas, notice it is CLOSED. Now put in Jerusalem. That is a whole other interesting thing because DeSantis just grabbed 300 from there to bring to Florida.

Hamilton, AL, Us

Even more proof Im right! Hell, I'm gonna front my brother the money for a tow truck.

Santa Barbara, CA, Us

@Marion

I think you are being snarky and mistaken.

I do not want open borders. I want congress to get up off their fucking ass and stop passing this shit around like a hot potato. Grow a fucking sack and do something. The last major piece that passed was in 1986. YES, nearly FOURTY FUCKING YEARS ago. There was a bi-partisan bill that passed in the Senate in 2013. It had a LOT of really good things in it. Guess who killed it?

Your fun loving FUCKING FREEDOM CAUCUS in the house. It passed the senate, something like 85 to 15. That is HUGE. Obama was going to sign it. Guess what . . . Boehner didn't even bring it to the floor. Why? Because it took what REAGAN and BUSH jr did with amnesty and let it happen. It was going to give amnesty to 11mm people living here now.

Proof that Republicans can't govern. They are the party of back seat drivers.

Hell, I'm convinced.

Convinced nothing is going to be done to fix the problem. Word of wisdom to all these new Americans* open towing or bail bondsman business's in rural America.
