I love Walmart. its the only store that carries all the fat free salad dressings, sour cream and cream cheese. When i lived in Ukiah mot people would drive 60 miles to do most of their shopping. The variety that people wanted was just not available in the small mom and pop stores we had in town.

Ukiah lost so much sales tax dollars that they begged Walmart to come into town.

Funny liberals hate Walmart because they claim that its putting all the small mom and pop retail stores out of business. Yet they love Obamacare which is destroying all the small mom and pop businesses in America.

Obamacare is sucking all the money out of the economy. The middle class that shopped at those stores are now paying the money that they would have spent there on their Obamacare premiums and or taxes that their employer is passing onto them.

That is not Amazon's business model. Rather than have people help you, it is up to you to choose what you want, and they will send it to you.

Nothing wrong with the model, they have just farmed out some of the labor to the consumer.

JC Penny will loose over 140K people..PayLess to close over 400 stores. Do you think Amazon will hire them ..hum ? These people can not do anything else than scanning bar-codes on the register or sell you shoes..

Walmart is struggling with year over year same store sales. They cater to the poor, and offer cheap schlock for people who can't afford anything else. They subsidize their workers wages on your tax dollars. I'm old enough to remember when Walmart bragged about selling American made stuff. but those days are long gone.

Costco has taken a completely different tack. They sell in bulk, but high quality stuff. They cater to millennials and other people with money. They treat their employees very well, offering full-time positions, vacation, reasonable cost health insurance, etc. I also remember the beginning of Costco. Sol Price started the whole thing in San Diego. The original Price Club still stands in San Diego. Price gave away most of his fortune, and is a huge force in inner city redevelopment in San Diego.

Bezos took a whole different approach with Amazon. He is a rapacious capitalist whose goal is to dominate any business he invests in. He also treats his workers poorly. He tries to sell everything. He pushes very hard to get you into the Amazon ecosystem, with TV, millions of choices, newspapers, brick and mortar stores, and now Whole Foods.

Funny how two of them are brick and mortar trying to make inroads into online sales, and the other is online trying to make inroads in brick and mortar...

They are the 3 leaders in their respective markets and are destroying the mall mentality chains like Sears and Macy's. They all 3 have adapted to the changing market and all three are expanding their services/brand while the mall rat's are dying.

You have three different companies targeting three different markets with three different business plans. They are only loosely comparable.

Trump gets no credit for unemployment rate, he has only been office 6 months, it takes longer to impact those numbers, especially when every policy he tries to enact gets blocked, delayed or ruled unconstitutional by political judiciary. However the same holds true for the demise of brick and mortar companies that cannot or will not adapt to the changing market...ie modify their business model or pricing to compete with Amazon, Costco and Walmart.

Court orders never stopped the Obama goverment, hell Comey was spying on all the Republicans in goverment.

DNC had a private forensic company which provided the information to FBI. Comey's words were that "his folks told him that is appropriate substitute". Again there is difference between gathering intelligence and doing criminal work. For criminal work you need court order, which FBI did not have.
