You're asking me to speculate. Nope, not going there. But...
As near as I can tell, the actual amount in the government fraud in MN, including meals, healthcare, childcare etc., fraud, is under $1B, but I'm uncertain how much of that is attributable to those of Somali descent.
If you could read another participant's post, it might shine some light on the the discrepancy between what is being claimed and what reality is.
None of what I am writing is a criticism of the DOJ, the operation, or a defense of those accused. This is a discussion of the profound lack of understanding of the subject material on the part of the person who posted it, most likely because they got the info from a third party like a blog and didnt actually look at the source material (or relied on an AI-generated summary, one of which I looked at, and it doesn't get it either.
And for anyone who isnt aware (in case it matters)- this is absolutely my area of expertise. I own a company that does this kind of work, including for the DOJ itself, and four of our staff including me have testified in court about such matters. I have been called to court specifically to educate a judge on this very subject.

They weren't "just" arrested. This was on June 30.
74 defendants were among 324 defendants. The 74 mentioned in this post are accused of controlled substance diversion, not fraud.
The $14.6 billion named in the headline is - and this is directly from the DOJ press release - the intended loss. They describe very high dollar amounts in submitted claims.
But this is where the lack of understanding kicks in. A doctor may submit a bill to Medicare for, say, an office visit in the amount of $425. It doesn't matter if they charge $200, $400, or $1,000 - if they are paid, they are paid according to the Medicare fee schedule.
It is not uncommon for a doctor to submit $1MM in bills but be paid just $50,000, all the while doing nothing wrong. Charges that are 10-20x - or even more -the Medicare fee schedule amount are not uncommon among sleazy doctors. I presented one yesterday to a client where the doctor charged 110 times the Medicare fee schedule.
Hence, $14.6 billion in submitted bills might amount to $200-$400 million in actual damages to the government. That is still very significant, but the inflated headline number is taking advantage of the fact that the distinction between billed amounts and actual damages can be very, very big.
If the Trump Crime Family really cared about Drugs, Fraud why so many pardons....The real truth is race cleansing....exactly how my whites have been deported? Only one whithe country (Russia) on the shit hole list...Has Russian / Trump mafia been rounded up and deported? That would be a resounding NO
I suggest you do a search of what someonescoming posted.

“ Biden era regulations were exhausting to American business and the American people , cost the US economy Dearly “ …….Ken Griffin CEO of Citadel. Today at Davos……People we were screwed .
@Som , we got to stop these endless wars . I know , I know people say there in no new word order but there is . Europe is a mess, they hopefully will kick us out of NATO. They know that is likely the only way we get out. . We are not Europeans ……… I want people to listen what the CEO of Citadel said at Davos today about the Biden Administration. The guys hair was on fire , as he put it we didn’t know what regulation was next. It made no sense . You remember I used to say the moves Biden made could be irreparable ? He said the exact thing. …..The EU has 450 million people and hardly produce anything . Germany the largest country is just slightly greater than California. .These STUPID regulation that were put out by evil NGOs nearly completely destroyed America.
@Maye , we have tried to get out of NATO. We probably pay 20% of all monies for NATO. . My opinion is , NATO kicks the US out ….a good move , go look what Eisenhower said about NATO. Now we have tried and tried to get a deal on the Ukraine war , then Europe undercuts USA makes a deal with Zelenskyy. …Now here is the big part of this , Europe is dead . Business , Geopolitically wise they’re dead . There is a big marshmallow out there ….Brics. . Russia will take Ukraine . The USA and Russia will become most favorite trade partners. This is to end Brics …..Russia and China hate each other . This will be the end of the so called new world order . There is NO reason some little poodle Europe should have any right driving the Pit Bull, the US . Brussels today , home of the Union is probably 60% people from outside of Belgium . I talk about Evil , this is the evils . Europe has played the US long enough. We don’t need a corrupt bunch of elites that stifle humanity . If this doesn’t happen we are committing suicide.
No doubt our allies will be keeping a closer eye on our midterms hoping to put a collar and leash on that dog, if not neuter him for the rest of his term.
The most dangerous thing about what Trump is doing is normalizing the "might makes right" approach to diplomacy. This of course was how the world mostly operated up until WW1-WW2 but the revival of it emboldens countries like Russia to just roll in and take what they want.
The current world order has brought us tremendous, albeit uneven, peace and prosperity. Why would anyone want to go back to a world of constant conflict between the big players?
I can only guess, but it would likely be the end of NATO. I'm really hoping we don't find out the hard way though.
Another potential outcome is that Russia and China form a closer alliance as a direct result of NATO dissolving, and it increases risk for the US should a war break out. The "America First" approach is likely to lead to the "America Only" outcome if we do this.
While we are the most powerful nation in NATO, it only serves to weaken us by alienating our allies. In other words, whatever we gained by taking Greenland could wind up costing us a lot more than what was gained. Trump has yet to explain WHY we need it, but like his ballroom, the Kennedy Center, and the Gulf of America, it just seems that it's yet another thing for him to piss on trying to create a legacy.
windowShopping7 - Probably a good a place as any to post the Greenland discussion because if the US tries to take Greenland by force, that would be a huge step down the "burn it all down" path.
“In 1916, the United States proclaimed their recognition of Danish sovereignty over all Greenland as a condition for their purchase of the Virgin Islands in the Treaty of the Danish West Indies.
Since World War II, the US has had at least one military base in Greenland.”
This area seems ideal to post about Greenland since the last time it was active it involved seizing control of Venezuela.
3 points:
1: If the objective of seizing Greenland was National Security, then it would have been noted in the current administration’s National Security Plan LAST November. It was not, and nothing significant has occurred in the period of time between.
2: Jack Smith is testifying this Thursday. If there is one person that donald doesn’t want to be heard (aside from Epstein’s ghost) it’s Jack Smith. Donald learned that if he creates enough chaos, it distracts people, even from the Epstein files.
3: If this were about seizing resources, then extraction would have begun years ago. There has been no substantial advancement in mining technology in the last year.
I really wish people didn't behave like these guys. It would be nice to have meaningful debate.
The problem is that it's not really possible to defend most of what's going on while keeping things logical and without resorting to intellectual dishonesty. So here's what we are dealing with.
