PA Supreme Court Rules As Bucks County Officials Get Blowback From Ballot Decision

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled Monday afternoon that Bucks, Philadelphia, and other counties were wrong to count undated or incorrectly dated mail-in ballots.

The ruling, which came by with a 7-0 on the merits of the case and 4-3 on procedural matters, comes as the race between Republican Dave McCormick and Democratic incumbent U.S. Sen. Bob Casey heads toward a mandatory recount.

As it stands, unofficial statewide results show McCormick leading by approximately 17,000 votes. The vote count is within a margin narrow enough to force a recount under state law.

The Associated Press had declared McCormick the winner two days post-election, but Casey has yet to concede, insisting that all votes be tallied.

Controversy broke out last week when Bucks County Commissioners Chairperson Diane Ellis-Marseglia, a Democrat, and member of the county’s Board of Elections, went viral nationally after she voted to count defective ballots, calling for a court to review it.

Today, a Pennsylvania judge denied a request from GOP Senate candidate David McCormick and the Republican National Committee (RNC) to toss out nearly 1,000 provisional ballots in Philadelphia. These votes will be counted.

This case is one of many lawsuits brought by McCormick, the RNC and the state GOP against Pennsylvania counties over the last few days to block them from counting provisional ballots with minor mistakes.

I’m curious if everyone in here believes that every legally registered voter should have their ballot counted or if it depends on if there is an R or a D next to their name.
