This is my last year at the head of the table for both of my companies… Kids, Grandkids and long time employees got it from here. I have tried retiring before but it just didn’t take. The Mrs. retires mid year after 35 years of emergency and ICU nursing. I don’t think we will spend more than 90 days in our CA home and will now take advantage of the time we have traveling and enjoying each other… Not going to worry about any of the things I can’t change anymore.. I am looking forward to hanging out watching sunrises and sunsets with my best girl..

I was retired between September 2009 and April 2011 due to health issues, then chose to go back to work part time from April 2011 - October 2015. In October 2015, I chose to keep my part time job and go back to work full time too. In May 2018 and July 2018, I lost both the full time and part time jobs; respectively. I sat around and gained weight... :-/

In August 2020, I started back to work part time and took a second part time job in December 2021. March 2022, I make the second part time job a full time job. April 2022, I lose the first part time job. July 2022 to present, I was shifted to a different department and hours offered have been slowly dwindling. Fuckers... The old game of offer less and less hours until they quit. Thus where I am at now with having put in applications left and right.

@2much and @ea, I'm right between you guys on my thought of retirement. Loved the last 3 years doing nothing but I like keeping busy and real estate ain't enough for me. My old bosses are dangling a carrot in front of me with some stipulations that really work for me (brand new company). It's gonna be a part time job at best that I can do from the golf course or pool when I want. Hardly any travel compared to what I used to do (6 out of 7 weeks) So I'm gonna do it for a while.

"I have zero intention of retiring again. It is too boring."

Lol... I'm retired with zero intention of working again.

When I was 14, I wrote a commercial software application.

I worked for a computer maker and took them public.

I worked for Microsoft when it had about 1200 employees and my boss reported to Steve Ballmer.

I started my own computer company and retired when I was 29.

I got bored and would do some work and eventually started up a much smaller computer company.

I was persuaded to run a holding company that had a few operating companies (~200 employees and 40mm a year in revenue) and thus moved to California. I grew that company to 150mm a year in revenue and a couple thousand employees and about a dozen operating companies. My partner in that died and I retired again for a few years. One of the operating companies that we opened was a hedge fund that I ran money for a bit.

I got bored and worked for a local tech company (70 employees) as their CTO. I got tired of that and retired again.

I currently write software for an enterprise piece of software and do consulting for it when I want.

I have zero intention of retiring again. It is too boring. it is like you are waiting for death to knock on your door.

I've been in various areas of telecom for close to 30 years.

Oddly enough, something like 80%ish of the folks I've known and played with in the LS were in education. Which means nothing really, just luck of the draw.

I am a Ph.D. level educational researcher.

But like Melvin, I've had dozens of jobs before I decided to go to college at the ripe old age of 34.

My first paying gig was shining shoes in downtown Chicago bars at 8 years old. Been working steady since then.

So as many know we have been long time swingers way before SLS in south Florida.. we have swinger friends in law enforcement command staff, dispatchers, judges, attorneys, firefighters, teachers and nurses..Most were head of the agency or top in their field.. so we were never on web sites.. but we had many home parties!

Its was our way to let loose from such stressful jobs and in the old days we called it "Choir Practice"..

Many know what we have both been in.. but we are not going to advertise it on SLS.. Linkedin is good enough! LOL

Employment-wise, I did anything and everything under the sun just to earn an honest dollar. It was in 2003 that I decided to take charge of my life, no longer work for anything less than $10 an hour and do something that I would enjoy, traveling. I went to truck driving school. After graduating, in December 2003, I started commercial driving in January 2004 and have been doing that on and off up to May 2018 when I walked away from the industry for a emotional and physical break.

Between April 2011 to July 2018, I worked for the Philadelphia Eagles as a glorified stadium usher. I have a legitimate and earned in my name, Superbowl ring.

Currently, I do retail sales for hunting, camping and fishing. I just interviewed yesterday for a company that specializes in tactical gear for law enforcement, military and first responders. I have two applications out for being a civilian employee of the military for separate positions. I have three applications out for different positions within the Philadelphia Phillies. I have one application out for Major League Baseball themselves.

Just the other day, I found a co-worker from current employer on a non-SLS swinger website. I have not mentioned it to him and am in debate whether or not to. If I were to, then it would only be at the end of my tenure at my current employer.

A thing we learned since being in the lifestyle, in the early 90s is that there is no occupation that we have not seen.

Politician? Check.

Rabbi and Priest? Check.

Rocket Scientist? Check.

Professional Athlete? Check. (Volleyball, Football, Baseball!)

Fortune 500 CEO? Check.

Brain Surgeon? Check.

Teacher? Check.

Nurse? Check.

FBI? State/County/City cop? Firefighter? Check.

So yes, any profession you can imagine, they are in the lifestyle. When you see a lot of one profession, that tends to be the biggest employed profession in the area.

I'm a Professional Engineer by training, license, and culture, but have spent less than half of my career doing that. Presently I'm self employed in Comercial Real Estate.

I think it would be weird to work with someone in the lifestyle. I have always been a tactile person (e.g. hugging friends of both sexes etc.) and likewise have always had to be actively conscious of refraining from that behavior, in general, at the office. Working with a fellow slut would really confuse the landscape of keeping it professional .

One thing we enjoy about the lifestyle is the huge diversity of people we meet that we otherwise might not. Culturally, politically, racially, and professionally. If I had to pick an over-represented demographic it would have to be either health care or teaching.

Nurse here and I'm a traveling Nurse with emergency Department experience. With what I've seen in my job duties I want to live life to the fullest and enjoy life. I feel blessed every morning I'm on this side of the grass being tomorrow is not guaranteed. I say get it when you can.

I once read that medical, law enforcement and teachers make up the largest swinger demographic.

I am in sales and not in sales… it’s confusing for sure… for an International IT services company.

I had a co-worker whose parents I had met at a club - didn’t know it that time. The coworker hadn’t started yet.

I also work with another co-worker who I am close with and whom we also seen at a club. Again she wouldn’t start for a few years but something bothered me when she started. Then one day she was putting some items in the fridge and she bent over and then it hit me. I will say it’s pretty cool to work with someone when you have seen them bent over getting pounded…

You are correct on that one about the medical profession ... We know lots of medical professionals in the LS. Only know one doctor, but know many nurses ... I think we even met a dentist once and we know a veterinarian also.

Without going into detail unless you want to. I'm a RN for a Hospital and recently found out a co-worker is on SLS. This lead me to put this question out there.

Please let us know what you do for a living. If you feel comfortable giving detailed info that is fine. I'm convince the medical field has a larger number of swingers.
