HAPPY THOUGHTS - 2018

And don't forget about that other night at the Circle Bar that involved 1) a mighty cute visiting hot wife and 2) that mesh jacket I rummaged out of my truck for her to wear there.

True story. I laugh hard (and sometimes, pee a little) every time I recall the incidents in question.

Fun, it's not gonna be Lee Circle for too much longer unless they bestow the honor on Tommy or Kathy

HT: It's a M&G weekend.

"Our son took the bar and feels really good about it."

I felt really good about taking a bar on Lee Circle once.

Actually, twice.

Our son took the bar and feels really good about it. He went out to celebrate with his brother-in-law.

"no shame in not knowing them in the first place. "

Definitely not. No scientist would ever call water "dihydrogen monoxide", except if trying to make points about scientific ignorance. As for hydric acid - that actually means something very specifically when it comes to the chemical properties of water. Except under very special circumstances, chemists would not call it "hydric acid" either.

FoodBoob has a few "chemicals" she is after lately. One is cellulose, aka dietary fiber. Another is citric acid, which is a key component of almost all metabolism of living things.

But - oh no! ACID!!!!

and... taken directly from wikipedia...

In February 2011, during the campaign of the Finnish parliamentary election, a voting advice application asked the candidates whether the availability of "hydric acid also known as dihydrogen monoxide" should be restricted. 49% of the candidates answered in favor of the restriction

A poll showed that over 80% of Americans want mandatory labeling on food containing DNA.

Maybe this isn't a happy thought. We're fucked.

In 2007 Jacqui Dean, New Zealand National Party MP, wrote a letter to Associate Minister of Health stating that a constituent of hers called for a ban on dihydrogen monoxide, and asked if the "Expert Advisory Committee on Drugs [has] a view on the banning of this drug?"

He replied:

Dear Ms Dean

Thank for your letter of 23 August 2007 about your constituent [name]'s call for a ban on dihydrogen monoxide.

Dihydrogen monoxide is water.

Yours sincerely,

What I love about it is his exploiting chemophobia and general ignorance of science to demonstrate how absurd so many of these panic-ridden misconceptions are.

One of the worst is "is used for" arguments.

Well, water is used as a nuclear reactor coolant, murder weapon, and fire retardant. It's a common pollutant produced by diesel engines. Millions of tons of it a year are belched out as waste by industry every year, yet there are no regulations on the quantity of it that can be discharged into the atmosphere!

Scoundrels!

Back in 4th grade, you could make a kid cry if you told him his epidermis was showing. Your folks might even get a call from the kid's parents.

Not really a HT. More of a FT.

He who drinks 8 glasses of hybrid acid a day...aka Sir PeesAlot

Windermere, FL, Us

Yep.

Look up the video on youtube - cody's lab hydric acid.

2:42 long. ;)

Windermere, FL, Us

One of my favorite YouTube channels is "CodysLab", where a young amateur chemist out in Idaho or something shows some terrific homemade experiments, usually but not always chemistry. He's a little thin sometimes on theory, and sometimes he does some downright dangerous stuff, but he's entertaining and I like that he's making science interesting to average people.

Anyway - not 30 minutes ago he posted a video called "Drinking hydric acid". He holds up a beaker of hydric acid, approximately 200 mL, and explains a lot of the dangers of it, such as:

  • its high solvent power
  • mutation of DNA
  • inhibition of neurotransmitters
  • main component of chemtrails
  • accelerates corrosion of iron and steel
  • prevents uptake of oxygen in the lungs
  • it killed 200,000 in a single incident in southeast Asia in 2004.

He then proceeds to drink it.

When will these irresponsible idiots stop posting their dangerous videos on YouTube?

HT: Lazy Sunday with my Tramp. A little Japanese (food) for lunch at one of our faves, quick shopping and home snuggling, watching free HBO weekend. That Wonder Woman is HOT!!!!

HT: In vanilla life, success in an initiative that we were repeatedly told was foolish, impossible, crazy, irresponsible...and now people are lining up both to participate and to claim credit.

As Colonel John "Hannibal" Smith of "The A-Team" remarked, "I love it when a plan comes together!" In reality, his plans never worked as planned. They just worked. As did ours.

Annie, it was a very civilized way to handle the crowds.

HT: Although almost a week away, next Saturday is World Sword Swallowers Day. Thankfully, I have a play date with a young lady who has a keen interest in celebrating this fine day. May you all be as blessed next Saturday ;-)

BT

Are you sure that National Sore Jaw Day isn't NEXT Sunday??

@BT: I imagine the alcohol does indeed make Disney the Happiest place on earth. :-)

Sounds like a wonderful trip!

HT: Just drove back into Nola after almost a week @ Disney with my kids. Splurged on a Disney resort hotel within walking distance of one of the parks. HT2: I had no idea the parks now serve alcohol. That was a pleasant bonus.

Havin these are small #8 self tapping screws. They all turned but because of both the screws and mesh being rusted i Had to turn each screw by hand so they would not break in half.

All done and i just hung a new front door. Cabinets will be done today and then its new granite counter tops and showers. Mrs loves the open showers, always enjoyed the attention she gets when showering.

ncal, next time penetrating oil on all the rusted screws, hit a second time. Then use a handheld torch on each screw. Heat expands it.
Use a battery powered drill with a reverse and graduated power switch. Have extra battery in the charger.

HT tourist group orgy tomorrow.
HT finally got the RV gate fixed painted straightened and new mesh.
Ht happy house is getting all the cabinets refinished today. And then hanging a couple of new ceiling fans.

Bt my hands are tired from turning screws on the RV gate. Had to take off over 100 screws holding the mesh on by hand because they where so rusted. Didnt not want to break off anyone of them.

@ggmm: thank you :)

HT: glad for ggmm’s evening and kinda wanna know more.
