I also learned a new word today- from the wordle.

"Nadir".

It basically means the opposite of pinnacle or zenith. The lowest point on a curve or the direction directly below you.

Fun fact:

Just learned a new word. It makes sense of what it means, just from what the word is, but I've never heard/seen this compound word.

Aboveboard ~ Legitimate, honest and open.

I have heard trumpery once in my entire life, but never knew what it meant. I looked it up; an interesting definition. Trumpery's synonyms can include dribble and nonsense.

Fun fact:

An old teacher of mine used to say "I see said the blind man, as he picked up his hammer and saw." That phrase makes you ponder what a blind man is doing with tools in his hand, or, if picking up the hammer has allowed the blind man to regain his sight.

Old word, good word. ;)

Fun fact: There is an actual word in the dictionary called "Trumpery". I will leave it up to the reader to look it up, but will say that I had considered putting this under the "Short Jokes" forum.

Fun Fact: two heads of state from WW2 are still alive, although neither held significant power during that time.

One is the 14th Dalai Lama (of Tibet, although I appreciate that the statehood of Tibet at that time is controversial).

The other is Simeon II, Tsar of Bulgaria, who ascended to the throne at the age of 7 in 1943 and only stayed for 3 years. However, he was elected Prime Minister from 2001-2005. He is the only living person to have held the title of "Tsar".

The last leader of WW2 who actually had any leadership role was Michael I of Romania, who died in 2017.

Fun fact:

People can be triggered just by simple things. I was victim of being 'triggered' this morning by three things. I have since calmed down and am my usual peaceful self again.

  1. Today is the 24th anniversary of the worst terroristic attack on American soil. Some people are still on edge about this.
  1. I was locked out of my laptop because Microsoft Windows decided to do its ingrained obligatory balking for no reason. Windows is notorious for doing stupid shit at random.
  1. I got an e-mail from my local sports arena advertising the pre-sale of Trans-Siberian Orchestra's annual holiday concert at that local sports arena. Summer is not even officially over yet and got an e-mail for a Winter themed concert.

These three things in a row just pissed me off!

I was able to regain access to my laptop with a bunch of different steps and changing passwords. I made breakfast and coffee, then sat down to continue my college studies. One thing that happened afterwards of my calming down phase, a gentleman that lives in the next cul-de-sac over that I am friendly with but have not had the chance to talk to for a while, he was passing by on foot and he & I talked for about ten minutes. This gentleman had commented on how good I looked, as the last time that he and I really talked, I had lost a lot of weight from my illness two years ago.

All in all, if you get 'triggered' on something, calm yourself down in a positive manner; don't lash out at people. You'll be the bigger person in the end for calming yourself down in a positive manner.

It does not bother me to have my profile open to single men, nor am I offended by single men viewing my profile. I embrace having my profile open to single men viewing it, as I run a group here on SLS that is geared towards single men. What annoys me though is, the same thing that couples and single women complain about... Single men not reading profiles/reading profiles completely, before sending messages.

No, I meant that 2much hit the nail on the head with his post.

A SM leaving his profile open to other SMs kinda begs a question.

Reminds me of that joke with the punchline, …So, the bear says, I’m beginning to believe that you’re not really here for the hunting.

Bridgetender, are you sure you're not trying to crack a joke and actually mean 'hammer meat?' ;-)

@2much - In this case, hammer meet nail…

Fun fact:

Even single men are subject to stupid messages from single men. I am wrapping up everything, getting ready to go to bed and I get a message. I look at it in the messages tab and then open the message. The message was from a single male. Because posting user screen names are frowned upon, I won't post his screen name. But, this is the exact message he sent; no editing, just copy and paste: How are you have you ever had a guy blow you

I looked at Who Viewed Me and it was not showing on my end that he viewed my profile. I sent this exact polite return message: Please read my profile for the answer to your question. I then re-checked the Who Viewed Me and this guy's profile showed up in the list. I have yet to receive any follow-up messages or apologies from this guy.

Will you be updating your profile to indicate you work with anal at a college level?

Bensalem, PA, Us

Well, the course is for I. T. and Cybersecurity. So, run with it in your mind how you see fit. :-D

San Luis Obispo, CA, Us

I guess that's a step up from fart jokes in junior high school. Hope your professor agrees.
