Friends/Friend Request

Mayhem, that’s why I’ve only used the app once. I don’t even know how I did it, but I sent a private pic request to a couple and almost immediately died of embarrassment. Not playing with fire again haha

I have gotten this once before too, but I much more frequently get the request to open my Private pics. Apparently that is easy to do by accident on the App as well. I recently got 4 of these requests back to back from a couple checking out our profile. Annoying.

Not saying this is the case all the time...but we have had a few that we replied and said we have not met and do not add friend unless we have met. Those three instances all said the same thing that they had been using the phone app and hit send friend request by mistake.

We only send friend requests to people we’ve chatted with, and we generally decline requests that come without at least some basic conversation.

It's just another way for Single Males to get shot down.

Just like Facebook, it does seem like some treat it as a "Who can get the most friends" kind of thing. Unlike some other sites though, you can't click on an SLS profile and see how many "friends" they have.

Obviously, getting friend requests from people 100's or 1000's of miles away doesn't do much good if someone isn't planning to visit your area or if you're not into camming.

For unsolicited singles requests I generally just deny them. For couples, I look to see how far away and if there would be any interest on our part if they are either close by or looking to travel to our area.

Some may see this as a swipe left/right kind of thing. I've mentioned elsewhere that there are better sites for that sort of thing, but where you're not seeing much action in your area @Time, it never hurts to check them out. At a minimum they are likely letting you know they're interested in you.

Exactly as stated and yes this is not FB and if we want you as a friend/favorite we will IM you and reach out or put notes on your profile.. It also gives access to some of your photos for those "voyeurs or picture collectors !

It’s basically another nonfunctional “upgrade”. It was supposed to be a way to utilize the new “Wall” feature for communication within that specific group of your “friends” ala FB, but we were getting comments and contacts from random people that were “friends” on our wall so if never really functioned as intended and has kind of been abandoned as best we can tell. And we can concur if the glitchiness of it because we’ll also get the random pop up of “Would you like to send a friend request to” when we absolutely did not click on send a friend request.

I believe you'll see information posted by your Friends when you look at your Wall - but other than that I'm still waiting for SLS to communicate the "new features" that Friends will be utilized for. ;-)

I've heard it is easy to accidentally send a Friend Request - especially from the app - so I don't get upset about people sending them without communicating first. I will look at the profile then either just deny the request or deny & send a message if I'm the least bit interested.

Some people are using it as a means of indicating interest without writing a message, since this site doesn't offer a "Like" or "Wink" function.

They are telling you they have interest. Work with that.

It was supposed to be the next big thing...

Like a lot of the "next big things" we have yet to see any real benefit.

We say in our profile that we will not accept friend requests unless we have communicated...

Can we get a little help with the Friends page? We’ve never used it. We’ve been getting a few requests without any conversation before hand. Is this is how things work now? On our F/B we only have friends that are people we know. So a little help would be great. Thanks in advance.
