I've only flown first class a few times, but only when they upgraded me pre or during the flight. And that was 20-25 yrs ago. The new international flights with reclining seats and beds must be out of sight. And those planes with a shower on the flight. Sorry, but I'm not dropping $10-25k on one flight.

If I was making $200k, I could see me splurging on a few domestic flights. But I don't, so I don't. When I'm on a plane, train or bus, or even a passenger in a car, I'm usually gonna sleep. When I'm sleep, I don't know if I'm in First Class, coach, on a train or under a bridge. Personally, I'd rather use the difference on a nicer hotel or additional trips. I'm not trying to die with a million in the bank, but not down to my last 200 bucks either.

I rarely pay for first class, but I'll take an upgrade. Mostly for early boarding, because I go to sleep as soon as I get settled in my seat.

FC seat vs a whole row to myself in the back, I’ll choose coach, unless we’re talking lie flat seats. In that case it’s FC all the way.

I know what you mean. I only fly FC, but I know of others who are indifferent, especially when they factor in the price, etc. To each their own, that's what keeps Spirit Airlines going.

First class is great. It's not as good as it used to be possibly but it's still great.

“debt is a big problem. if you think holding a low interest mortgage is smart because because investments earn more you likely have little to no investments and are a simple minded dipshit”

Once again, math clearly isn’t your strong suit. If you can’t figure out that 6>3, there isn’t much left to talk about.

I put all expense from my businesses on the Delta Amex. Just about every upper employee has one. EVERYTHING goes on the card and is paid monthly. There is absolutely no way we could EVER pay air fare. We get 3 times miles for all travel for the employees.. Best thing we ever did. We are able to gift a lot of people trips for special occasions as one of their package perks. We hav a couple of other travel cards too. First class is great but I actually think the biggest perk is the Delta Club.

Why do you think that? And why don't you think it's smart? It's not actually a simple math problem, although it might look like one.

Several years ago we had friends who owned a trucking business with 4 or 5 semis. They told us they were going on vacation to Hawaii on frequent flier miles. I asked WTF, I did not know you had ever been on an airplane, how do you have frequent flyer miles? Apparently every single business expense for his trucking company went on a Delta American Express card and he had a gazillion flyer points even though he had never flown.

"I'm gonna spend the money and pay it off every month anyway, so why not?"

I also have an Alaska Airlines credit card. Not only do I get an annual companion fare, for some reason I get four times the miles as the dollars I spend. And when I say I put everything on there, I mean pretty much everything, including car and home insurance. In addition to the companion flight, I usually get three or four free roundtrips out of the deal each year. Also, free upgrades to premium or first class about a third of the time, which is nice.

Another reason not to carry a balance is that credit cards provide the average person with the only reliable and readily accessible source of emergency funds.

I have shifted from buying most stuff on my lowest interest card (USAA) to my Alaska Air frequent flyer card. There is a $95 annual fee, but that's more than offset by the annual companion fare they offer. Even if we're only flying somewhere cheap like Ontario CA to visit Sea Mountain, I save more than $95 just on that.

I don't mess with the miles myself but my Girlfriend is a power shopper. So I let her mess with them and buy flights to visit family, or have family visit us. I do loke the perqs. Particularly being able to board early and be assured of a place for my bag. The occasional free upgrade is nice too. I'm not a first class guy but my GF loves when I give her my seat. And if I can get one for free, or two for a low price on, say, a six hour flight to Cancun, that's definitely a plus. I'm gonna spend the money and pay it off every month anyway, so why not?

Depending on the time of year, and where you are flying to, it would be 1 round trip.

I've never used Sky Miles.

If someone charges $2 to $2,500 a month on a card, how many miles will 24 to 30k in a year give you?

And roughly how many trips does it translate to?
