Sea Mountain Inn is the boutique end of the US clothing-optional resort spectrum — only 15 rooms, set on a small parcel in Desert Hot Springs near Palm Springs, with two natural mineral-water hot-spring pools as the anchor amenity. The property is owned by Sea Mountain Lifestyles Resorts and has operated in the current configuration since 2005, though the hot-springs site has been a resort destination since the 1950s.
Boutique scale, big amenity
15 rooms is small — at full occupancy the resort hosts about 30 guests. The trade-off is exclusivity: the two hot-spring pools are never crowded, the 24-hour dance lounge and "lifestyles taboo gardens" stay intimate, and the staff knows every guest by name within hours. For couples who find a 4,000-passenger Bliss Cruise overwhelming, Sea Mountain is the other end of the spectrum.
Couples and single women — not single men
Sea Mountain's admission policy is distinctive: couples and single women only. Single men are not admitted to the lifestyle program. This is a deliberate choice that shapes the on-site demographic and gives the property its identity. The policy is widely understood in the lifestyle scene and not unique to Sea Mountain (it's common at private play parties), but Sea Mountain is the most prominent US clothing-optional resort that runs it.
Hot springs and spa
The two natural mineral pools — 98°F and 104°F — are the property's signature amenity. The mineral content is geothermally heated, similar to nearby Two Bunch Palms but inside a couples lifestyle context. The spa offers full massage packages (couples massage, hot stone, deep tissue); these are paid add-ons on top of the room rate.
What's included
Pricing is European plan with bundled amenities — the room rate includes 24-hour access to pools, lounges, and gardens; all-day snacks, breakfast, lunch, fruits, juices, and unlimited soft drinks; and one breakfast and one lunch service per day. Dinners and spa treatments are paid add-ons.
How Sea Mountain compares
Against Caliente or Paradise Lakes, Sea Mountain is dramatically smaller and skews more upscale-spa than party resort. Against Desire Pearl in Mexico, Sea Mountain is US-domestic (no passport) and runs single-women-friendly where Pearl is couples-only-strict. Many guests pair Sea Mountain with a Palm Springs weekend — the property's proximity to PSP makes weekend stays from the West Coast easy.
