Hedonism II is the original — the resort that effectively created the modern clothing-optional all-inclusive category in 1976 (when it opened as Negril Beach Village) and rebranded to Hedonism II under SuperClubs management around 1980. Nearly 50 years on, it remains the longest-running lifestyle resort still in operation. Generations of lifestyle couples have made their first clothing-optional trip here, and the property's "Nude side" pool and beach are unofficial pilgrimage sites for the broader scene.
Nude side and Prude side
The 22-acre property is split into two distinct halves: the Nude side (clothing-optional, including a dedicated nude pool, nude beach, and the Playroom), and the Prude side (clothing-required, family-vacation atmosphere). Guests are free to move between the two; many couples spend the day on the nude side and the evening on the prude side or vice versa. The split is a workable compromise that lets the resort host both lifestyle and non-lifestyle guests under one roof.
The Playroom and adult-play culture
The Playroom — an on-site adult-play space on the nude side — is a Hedonism signature. Unlike land-based resorts that designate "couples-only" zones but provide no specific play infrastructure, Hedonism provides the room. Behavior inside the Playroom is at the discretion of guests; the resort enforces consent and discretion but does not police what consensual adults choose to do. The Playroom is one of the reasons Hedonism continues to attract takeover events year after year.
Themed weeks and takeovers
Hedonism's calendar of recurring themed weeks is the densest in the lifestyle resort category. Erotica Jamaica (an annual erotic art and theme week), Tropical Madness, Young Swingers Week (a 35-and-under takeover), and frequent post-cruise after-parties for Bliss guests all run multiple times a year. Many lifestyle couples plan their year around one or two takeovers here.
What's included
All-inclusive in the truest sense — meals, premium liquor, water sports, tennis, gym, the nightclub, and the Playroom are all included in the per-night rate. The only paid add-ons are spa treatments and certain excursions. The bars and restaurants are open multiple hours per day; the nude pool's swim-up bar is famously open from 10am until very late.
Who Hedonism II is for
Hedonism is the lifestyle-curious's traditional first international trip and the lifestyle-veteran's annual repeat visit. The crowd skews 30s–60s, predominantly couples but with a significant single-friendly population (singles week takeovers expand this). Returning guests joke that Hedonism is the only resort where you make friends faster than you can remember names.
How Hedonism compares
Against Desire Pearl or Desire Riviera Maya, Hedonism is older, lower-priced, and more permissive on-site. Desire is newer, finer-dining, and more couples-only-strict. Against Temptation Cancun, Hedonism is fully lifestyle where Temptation stays party-only without dedicated play infrastructure. Against Caliente, Hedonism is bigger and more international (and a passport-required trip from the US).
