Also called: Hedonism, Hedo

An all-inclusive, clothing-optional resort in Negril, Jamaica — the longest-running flagship lifestyle property, with a reputation skewing toward experienced lifestylers and "anything-goes" culture. Themed weeks (BBC, fetish, takeovers) draw their own communities multiple times a year.

The property opened in 1976 as Negril Beach Village and was rebranded as Hedonism II in 1989 after SuperClubs, owned by Jamaican businessman John Issa, acquired it. Wikipedia's article on Hedonism Resorts documents the history, including the sale of the property to Marshmallow Ltd. in 2013 under financier Harry Lange, and notes that there is no Hedonism I — the chain began with II. A short-lived Hedonism III operated in Runaway Bay from 1999 to 2010. The resort sits on 22 acres at the northern end of Negril's seven-mile beach, with two distinct sides — referred to in-house as Prude and Nude — separating clothed and clothing-optional accommodations and pools.

Operationally the resort is all-inclusive and adults-only, with the standard mix of pools, hot tubs, restaurants, a disco, and a clothing-optional beach. The community-defining elements are the themed weeks: long-running takeovers built around fetish, Big Black Cock, body-paint, glow, Halloween, and other affinity groupings draw their own returning crowds multiple times per year, which gives Hedo something closer to the rhythm of a year-round event venue than a conventional resort. In 2020 the on-site Hedo Weedo dispensary opened, becoming the country's first legal regulated cannabis dispensary.

Within the lifestyle community the property's reputation is for an experienced-skewing, anything-goes culture compared to the more couples-curated atmosphere at properties like Desire Cancun or Desire Riviera Maya. That reputation is partly a function of its longevity, partly of its singles-welcome policy, and partly of the themed-week ecosystem that pulls in concentrated affinity crowds rather than a uniform clientele.
