Lifestyle Resort
Also called: Adult Resort
A resort that openly caters to swingers and the broader adult lifestyle audience, typically clothing-optional and often with on-site play areas. Hedonism (Jamaica) and Desire (Mexico) are prominent examples.
Two properties anchor the category. Hedonism II in Negril, Jamaica, is the longest-running adults-only, clothing-optional lifestyle resort in the Caribbean, with a famously divided nude and prude side, on-site play areas, and a steady cadence of theme weeks pulled together by outside event companies. Desire Resort & Spa, which operates two couples-only properties on the Riviera Maya in Mexico, was purpose-built for the lifestyle market and is more curated and less raucous in tone, with playrooms, themed nights, and a heavily Latin-American and European clientele alongside the North American base.
The format relies on a closed perimeter — no walk-in day guests — which is what allows clothing-optional public space and on-property play to function comfortably. Pricing typically lands in the upper-mid all-inclusive range, with peak demand around themed weeks (fetish, rope, foam, Halloween, New Year) that are sold either by the resort directly or by partnered event brands that buy room blocks and program the entertainment.
Beyond the two flagship properties, the lifestyle-resort label is also applied to U.S. condo-hotels such as Secrets Hideaway in Kissimmee, Florida, which are less polished than Caribbean all-inclusives but offer year-round on-premise clubbing in a domestic setting. Couples weighing first visits typically compare three axes: dress-code strictness, density of organised programming, and how often the property runs branded takeovers versus operating as a standing lifestyle venue.
