uploading photos - technical question

It's likely better NOT to alter the format the Camera app stores the pics in.

Instead, google "how to convert heic to jpg on iphone" and go the howtogeek com page that comes up. It describes how to convert heic pics to jpg on the iphone - no need to download or install any conversion apps.

<p>On your iPhone, tap on the "Settings" app, then select "Camera". Select "Format" and then, "<span style="color:rgb(70, 69, 71); font-family:-apple-system,blinkmacsystemfont,segoe ui,helvetica,arial,sans-serif; font-size:15px">&ldquo;Most Compatible&rdquo; and that should use JPG instead of HEIC.</span></p>

<p><span style="color:rgb(70, 69, 71); font-family:-apple-system,blinkmacsystemfont,segoe ui,helvetica,arial,sans-serif; font-size:15px">The picture needs to be smaller than 5MB in size.</span></p>

<p><span style="color:rgb(70, 69, 71); font-family:-apple-system,blinkmacsystemfont,segoe ui,helvetica,arial,sans-serif; font-size:15px">The picture needs to be bigger than 250 x 250 pixels in width/height.</span></p>

<p><span style="color:rgb(70, 69, 71); font-family:-apple-system,blinkmacsystemfont,segoe ui,helvetica,arial,sans-serif; font-size:15px">Pictures that are too tall and skinny may cause an error. </span></p>

The error message comes when trying to upload and does not process the upload.

It is none of the 3 exceptions you listed.

It is a simple pic taken with an iphone of a person alone in a room.

<p>Is the issue that you are getting an error message at the time you upload or does the picture upload and show as "pending" and then disappears? If it just disappears, the site probably deleted it for some reason. </p>

<p>We are no longer allowing screenshots - Pictures with icons over them or black bars at the top and bottom of the picture.</p>

<p>We no longer allow pictures of pictures of people - For example, posting a picture of a picture of someone hanging on a wall.</p>

<p>We no longer allow pictures showing large crowds in the background - For example, a picture on a crowded beach, Disney World or a sports stadium. Some of those people in the background might be minors.</p>

I found a free converter program and used it to convert the files from HEIC to JPEG.
It seems to have worked although it took a bit of work.

What I don't get is that I took a series of photos and never changed the setting on the camera. Even so, some of the pics were accepted by SLS and others were rejected. So I'm still not sure exactly what the issue is.

I also tried to save them as .JPG

But either way they get rejected.

What did you do to convert it to jpg? You should be able to convert an heic file to a jpg file successfully on your end. How depends on the platform you are using.

I'd recommend figuring out how to do it successfully without involving emailing the pic(s) to anyone - then you know how to do it for future pics, and if you post how you did it here, it may help others too.

Thanks for the reply Wayne.

I understand what you are saying.

The pictures in question are tagged .HEIC, whatever that stands for.
I also tried to save them as .JPG

But either way they get rejected.

Is there anyway to get these pics in the correct format for uploading?

Thanks.

<p>For SLS, you need to use the JPG file. Apple products have a "Live Photo" option that is a combination of a JPG file and a MOV (Quicktime) file that gives pictures a dynamic effect. It sounds like you are trying to upload the Quicktime .MOV file. </p>

I have transferred photos from my iphone to my laptop

Before I upload the files to sls I save them as a .jpg instead of heic.

But some of the photos will not upload and I get an error message stating that it is a quicktime/vid file.

Any insight would be appreciated.
