Sls is more concerned about deleting people's pics
Groups
They’re definitely needs to be some kind of periodic review for groups. There are way too many groups that are inactive, nothing has been posted for years, but the groups are still searchable and joinable.
It seems reasonable that any group that has not had any new posts in over a year should be deleted.
I have joined over 20 groups and maybe 8 to 10 had activity in the last 6 months.
When so, many groups are dead like this it makes looking for groups unappealing.
I have to laugh, because you two Italian Ging & AandJinn are talking about has made me crazy trying to navigate the app I finally downloade yesterday after being a member since 2017. I must have spent an hour or 2 looking before I realized you can't acces the forum.
I be getting it figured out a bit better. especially seeing ya'lls post that help me not feel so social media illeterate. thanks.
Another glaring issue much to the detriment of groups is the app. Many members, specifically new ones are generally using just the app so they won’t ever know SLS groups exist other than seeing their events because there is no way to send an invite, no way to join, & no way to send a bill message to attendees. We’ve had to explain multiple times to people that they are missing out on a whole plethora of things by being on the app.
I told them the same thing. They didn't bother to respond
It would be convenient if we could be allowed to update it ourselves, even if they need to review it. I’ll draft it again and contact support.
That happened to us too. Put in a ticket and they'll update it for you
We use our group regularly, but also post a lot to our groups website because we have group chats and such. SLS doesn’t update the groups dates based on activity, those dates seem to be when the group was established best I can tell. Also there seems to be a recent glitch because our entire group description just vanished and now only say DESCRIPTION with no way to edit or update it. I try to post updates and info into our groups forum here every once in awhile to keep things current.
If you're looking at the forums within each group you'll probably find most aren't being used. But plenty of groups exist simply to hold events. Our group has about 900 members and no one uses the forums in the group. But we post our upcoming events there and that works great.
Plenty of groups are active, along with plenty which have died out. Sounds like your area just had bad luck on the group front. It happens.
Is the group function being used at all?
When looking at groups in my area most postings were last updated years ago.
I am in the Chicago area.
