Discussion Group

Reflecting on your (plural; in Miss. it's the less ambiguous "all y'all's") comments while doing landscaping grunt work this morning...
For we endowed with years, the LS is doubly pleasurable. Shared sex is satisfying as ever; the company even more so. Double your pleasure.

Wayne, so true.

R&C, fair nuff, pertaining to that particular demographic, long as we ain't applying it across the board.

<p>Here is the original post for this thread:</p>

<p>"<span style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family:tahoma,verdana,arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size:14px">I'm interested in finding or creating a Group aimed at Seniors, over 65, who are interested in serious discussions of their experiences swinging and their sex lives, looking back at these topics from the perspective of their age and experiences. Anyone out there interested?"</span></p>

<p><span style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family:tahoma,verdana,arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size:14px">Everything mentioned above can be done right here in "Senior Swingers". All they are talking about is sharing experiences using the written word, which is the whole point of a forum. The problem I see is engagment. We have close to 15000 groups on the site. I just checked and those 15000 groups produced a total of 15 group messages over the last month! Members submit multiple new groups everyday, but they never engage and use them.</span></p>

<p><span style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family:tahoma,verdana,arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size:14px">I'm really not sure what to do to get people to start using words and talking again. </span></p>

We enjoy stories too and exchange the good ones with each other.. but we do stick to what we said about non swingers over from CL.

You're assuming it's either or. There are swingers that do play that also enjoy stories. You're also assuming that discussion groups are solely intent on sharing actual experiences. These forums are discussion groups, and are proof to the contrary. Stories of experiences can be told with anonymity, as we both have done.

The problem that I have seen on SLS in our 10 plus years.. like when CL closed down all the pervs, voyeurs , picture collectors came here.. slowly they are leaving and for "us" a profile that only wants to hear stories and look at your photos .. are NOT real swingers who want to meet and party sexually.. just our take from what we have experienced first hand here.

We will not open or tell our stories to those people.

<p>Thank you. SLS is about to turn 25 years old. By website standards, we are definitely "senior". Many of you have aged with us. I heard that Swingersboard went down. At one point, they were one of our largest affiliates. I admit, I do not know everything they offered, but I see no reason that SLS cannot fill the gap, if there is demand.</p>

Wayne,

Thanks for asking. There is a group of seniors who are refugees from the now-defunct SwingersBoard who have an interest in resurrecting such a setting. I will reach out to them and gauge interest. All--or nearly all--are members here. None of that is meant to exclude anyone from chiming in, I am simply doing this as a way of assessing interest.

Regards.

<p>I just checked Groups. There are 4 pages of groups with the word "Senior" in the title. The two biggest are:</p>

<p>Senior Travel Club with 3110 members.</p>

<p>Seniors Gone Wild with 3220 members.</p>

<p>You may wish to check those out. I may also reach out to the owners of those groups. </p>

<p>I just noticed this thread. We did not delete that group or that member. They chose to leave. It seems like there is a lot of interest for a senior swingers discussion group and as Quality Control, I am trying to find ways to start engaging with members to find ways for the site to improve. Is anyone else interested in running a group like this? If so, I can help you create it. If not, I can just create one and maybe some of you would like to at least be moderators of the group?</p>

Right, 'does seem odd. The group seemed a good idea, though there's opportunity here to see, be seen, and chat at least.

Unless he accidentally did something really stupid, I do not think he stepped out of bounds and was shut down by SLS .
He has been here for several years and I would think if he was up to no good we would have seen it before he started a group.

Fundamentallaw and Jawwge add perspective at a time when this forum is gaining subscription and interest. The purposes of forum and discussion group overlapped somewhat, with the forum being an easier reach. SLS admin possibly have their hands full (oops) with keeping up (oops again) with content coming (!) and going. (OK, OK, enough double entendre.)
It's encouraging to see people check in, interested in what's to tell, ask, offer, or entice. 'Looking forward to more. We're back in after a long and obscure COVID era and after. The site does have a time capsule feel, with menus and features that can take some welcoming and getting used to again, like an old house - or maybe friendlies of a certain age. Enjoy...

Fundamentallaw makes some good points. A simple discussion group here still needs moderation, and strict adherence to SLS guidelines and terms of service. If he stepped outside of those, SLS may have deactivated his account as well as the group. They play hardball when their lines are crossed.

Funlyfriend - LOL!
That would explain it.

Good evening.
This seems like a worthwhile enterprise. Some backstory that might be relevant.

  1. Running a discussion group is quite different from operating a separate site. It's important to ask whether this discussion group might find a home on another site or whether it needs its own. I'll simply mention that Swingersboard was largely an older crowd--it went out of business because the cost of the server and the necessary monitoring and so on became prohibitive. When there was interest in resurrecting the site, those of us who thought it would be a good idea realized that resources were not going to be there. Those resources involved time and money. Sites either are fully supported by subscription OR they make their money on sponsors/advertising OR someone is donating the resources.
  1. Perhaps the best question is--what functionality would be important in this group? Open posting? Private messaging? Document repository for download? Image repository or exchange? Travel calendars? Polls? The simpler the functionality, the easier it is to imagine how such a site would operate.
  1. It's a surprise to no one that everything on the internet is subject to attack. The only question is the extent to which the site is defended against attack. Security is not cheap. Similarly, some sort of oversight and management is essential. There have to be moderators who can identify concerns and respond to others' concerns.
  1. The legal risks have to be managed, This is not trivial for an adult site.

And so ends the group? Perhaps we bring it back with a new name and post it here?

Thoughts?

It looks like the person who set up the group is no longer an active member. Note that his Icon is grey below.

Robjan- Oh good, I'm not the only one.
I thought maybe I got banned.
His email to me about the group disappeared, as well.
